Abstract
Ultrasonic guided wave inspection is expanding rapidly to many different areas of manufacturing and in-service inspection. The purpose of this paper is to provide a vision of ultrasonic guided wave inspection potential aswe move forward into the new millennium. An increased understanding of the basic physics and wave mechanics associated with guided wave inspection has led to an increase in practical nondestructive evaluation and inspection problems. Some fundamental concepts and a number of different applications that are currently being considered will be presented in the paper along with a brief description of the sensor and software technology that will make ultrasonic guided wave inspection commonplace in the next century.

Scattering of the Edge-guided Wave by an Edge Crack at a Circular Hole in an Isotropic Plate ☆

TL;DR: In this paper, a 2D Fast Fourier Transformation (2D FFT) is used to produce the dispersion curve to identify the scattered Lamb wave modes, and the application of these forward-scattering results for addressing the inverse problem of crack detection and sizing are briefly discussed.

Time-domain analysis of second-harmonic generation of primary Lamb wave propagation in an elastic plate

TL;DR: In this article, the physical process of generating the time-domain second harmonic by a primary Lamb wave waveform in an elastic plate was investigated based on the preconditions that the phase velocity matching is satisfied and that the transfer of energy from the primary wave to the double frequency Lamb wave is not zero.

Theoretical and numerical investigations of the nonlinear acoustic response of feature guided waves in a welded joint

TL;DR: In this article, the second harmonic generation (SHG) of feature guided waves (FGWs) in topographical waveguides was investigated. But the authors focused on the nonlinear acoustic response of FGWs.

Ultrasonic Waves in Solid Media

TL;DR: In this article, the theory of elasticity was introduced and basic formulas and concepts in complex variables in the theory and application of wave propagation were discussed. But the authors did not consider the effects of wave scattering on the wave propagation experiments.
