Ultrasonic guided wave inspection is expanding rapidly to many different areas of manufacturing and in-service inspection. The purpose of this paper is to provide a vision of ultrasonic guided wave inspection potential aswe move forward into the new millennium. An increased understanding of the basic physics and wave mechanics associated with guided wave inspection has led to an increase in practical nondestructive evaluation and inspection problems. Some fundamental concepts and a number of different applications that are currently being considered will be presented in the paper along with a brief description of the sensor and software technology that will make ultrasonic guided wave inspection commonplace in the next century.read more

Experimental validation of ultrasonic guided modes in electrical cables by optical interferometry
TL;DR: The dispersion curves of elastic waves propagating in electrical cables and in bare copper wires are obtained theoretically and validated experimentally and there is good agreement between the simulations and the experiments despite the peculiarities of electrical cables.

Influence of temperature on fouling removal for pipeline based on eco-friendly ultrasonic guided wave technology
TL;DR: In this article , the influence of temperature on the fouling removal process in pipes is studied, and a finite element simulation model was established for guided wave propagation in pipes with different temperatures to obtain the acoustic pressure distribution along the pipes, showing that the descaling performance is better when the pipeline temperature is higher.
