TLDR
In this paper, a review of the phase change materials (PCM) and their application in energy storage is presented, where the main advantages of encapsulation are providing large heat transfer area, reduction of the PCMs reactivity towards the outside environment and controlling the changes in volume of the storage materials as phase change occurs.

Enhancing the heat storage density of silica–alumina by addition of hygroscopic salts (CaCl2, Ba(OH)2, and LiNO3)

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors developed new composite materials presenting a high energy density accompanied with an optimal sorption capacity for seasonal heat storage, and the obtained composites were fully characterized in their structural, textural, and surface properties and the water sorption/desorption heats were determined by TG-DSC analysis for all composites, salts, and support.

Thermodynamic feasibility of harvesting data center waste heat to drive an absorption chiller

TL;DR: In this article, an alternative cooling architecture that is heat driven and leads to a more efficient data center in terms of power usage effectiveness (PUE) was proposed, where the primary thermal source is waste heat produced by CPUs on each server blade and the main challenge is capturing enough of this high-temperature heat to energize an absorption unit.
