TLDR
In this paper, the authors focus on the role of agriculture and fishing in the European level in the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) and show that agriculture dominates in terms of direct contribution to GDP and numbers of people engaged in it, as well as accounting for the largest amount of public support expenditure.
Abstract
Agriculture and fishing are the primary source of almost all our food, as well as of many other products, so remain vital activities even though their share in the economy is small and in continuous decline. Partly for this reason public policy in these areas is almost entirely integrated at European level in the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and Common Fisheries Policy (CFP). Forestry policies are also heavily affected by EU-level decision-making. As agriculture dominates in terms of direct contribution to GDP and numbers of people engaged in it, as well as accounting for the largest amount of public support expenditure, it is agriculture that will receive the greatest attention here.

Sustainability development: Biofuels in agriculture

TL;DR: In this paper, a semi-structured questionnaire was administered to 129 smallholder farmers who were sampled from the Eastern Cape Province in South Africa and a binary probit model was used to investigate the determinants of small-holder farmers adopting biofuel crops.

Effects of Reclaimed Wastewater and Waste Nutrient Solution Irrigation on Seedling Growth of Chinese Cabbage

TL;DR: Wang et al. as discussed by the authors examined the growth of Chinese cabbage seedling using reclaimed wastewater and waste nutrient solution as alternative irrigation resources, and they found that the concentration of nutrients, such as K +, NH 4+, Mg 2+, Ca 2+, Cl -, NO 3-, PO 4- and SO 42-, in wastewater was higher than that in wastewater.

An Analysis of the Demand Market of Indonesian Plywood in Japan

TL;DR: In this article, the authors analyzed the current situation of Indonesian plywood consumption and estimated the demand market for the next five years in Japan by using an exponential smoothing model and showed that the future demand market of Indonesia plywood in Japan will remain fairly constant at the level of 1.09 million m 3 in 2013 until 2017.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nitrogen and Sulphur Foliar Fertilisation

TL;DR: The effects of foliar fertilisation can reverberate from grapes through to wines as mentioned in this paper, and non-volatile compounds mainly influence the taste and flavour of wines, while volatile compounds play an important role in the aromatic expression.

Protein Measurement with the Folin Phenol Reagent

TL;DR: Procedures are described for measuring protein in solution or after precipitation with acids or other agents, and for the determination of as little as 0.2 gamma of protein.
Journal ArticleDOI

A rapid and sensitive method for the quantitation of microgram quantities of protein utilizing the principle of protein-dye binding

TL;DR: This assay is very reproducible and rapid with the dye binding process virtually complete in approximately 2 min with good color stability for 1 hr with little or no interference from cations such as sodium or potassium nor from carbohydrates such as sucrose.

Standard methods for the examination of water and wastewater

TL;DR: The most widely read reference in the water industry, Water Industry Reference as discussed by the authors, is a comprehensive reference tool for water analysis methods that covers all aspects of USEPA-approved water analysis.

A revised medium for rapid growth and bio assays with tobacco tissue cultures

TL;DR: In vivo redox biosensing resolves the spatiotemporal dynamics of compartmental responses to local ROS generation and provide a basis for understanding how compartment-specific redox dynamics may operate in retrograde signaling and stress 67 acclimation in plants.
