An overview of time-based and condition-based maintenance in industrial application

TLDR
It can be concluded that the application of the CBM technique is more realistic, and thus more worthwhile to apply, than the TBM one, however, further research on CBM must be carried out in order to make it more realistic for making maintenance decisions.

On multi-state system with interval-valued states under preventive maintenance and minimal repairs

TL;DR: In this article, the reliability and availability of multi-state degraded systems with the system states represented as interval-valued numbers are investigated, where the status of the system is considered to degrade with use and the case of imperfect preventive maintenance and minimal repairs is considered.
Journal ArticleDOI

A mixed-integer programming model for an integrated production planning problem with preventive maintenance in the pulp and paper industry

TL;DR: In this paper , an efficient mixed-integer formulation is proposed that optimizes when, where and how much to produce of different wood species and schedules preventive maintenance to minimize the total setup times.
Journal ArticleDOI

Failure mode classification for condition-based maintenance in a bearing ring grinding machine

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors present a practical approach for failure mode prediction using multiple sensors installed in a bearing ring grinder for process control as well as condition monitoring, where the presence of failure mode is predicted in the first step and the failure mode type is identified in the second step using the same feature set.
Journal ArticleDOI

Structured maintenance engineering policy development based on a production machine process perspective

TL;DR: In this paper, a maintenance decision support (MDS) model is proposed for the pulp manufacturing industry, which consists of three steps: initial setup, deterioration monitoring, and decision making.
Journal ArticleDOI

Bayesian maintenance decision optimisation based on computing the information value from condition inspections

TL;DR: The proposed approach overcomes the limitation of CBM strategy and highlights the importance of VoI computation (to confirm VoI > 0) before adopting inspections and CBM.

Remaining useful life estimation - A review on the statistical data driven approaches

TL;DR: This paper systematically reviews the recent modeling developments for estimating the RUL and focuses on statistical data driven approaches which rely only on available past observed data and statistical models.

Optimum Preventive Maintenance Policies

TL;DR: In this paper, two types of preventive maintenance policies are considered, and the optimum policies are determined, in each case, as unique solutions of certain integral equations depending on the failure distribution.

Condition monitoring and fault detection of wind turbines and related algorithms: A review

TL;DR: In this article, the authors reviewed different techniques, methodologies and algorithms developed to monitor the performance of wind turbine as well as for an early fault detection to keep away the wind turbines from catastrophic conditions due to sudden breakdowns.
