An overview of time-based and condition-based maintenance in industrial application

TLDR
It can be concluded that the application of the CBM technique is more realistic, and thus more worthwhile to apply, than the TBM one, however, further research on CBM must be carried out in order to make it more realistic for making maintenance decisions.

Reinforcement Learning based on Stochastic Dynamic Programming for Condition-based Maintenance of Deteriorating Production Processes

TL;DR: In this article , a stochastic dynamic programming model is developed for maintenance planning on a deteriorating multistate production system, where the quality of the bath/lot of items produced in each stage is employed as a condition monitoring for condition-based maintenance.
Journal ArticleDOI

Use of low bandwidth network technologies and sensors for operation and performance monitoring of rural development projects: A case study in South Africa

TL;DR: In this paper, the use of low bandwidth network technologies and sensors for operation and performance monitoring in deep rural projects without incurring major costs to support the sustainability of these projects is discussed.

Condition monitoring for track circuits: A multiple-model approach

W.P. Verbeek
TL;DR: This thesis presents a condition monitoring approach that effectively combines the available sensor data with system knowledge and outperforms a long short-term neural network developed for the same problem, which is a state of the art condition monitoring method for track circuits.
Journal ArticleDOI

A bivariate process-based mean residual lifetime model for maintenance and inspection planning

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented a new performance metric for the reliability analysis of a deteriorating system composed of n parallel subsystems, which incorporates not only the age factor, but also two basic processes: the number of failed subsystems and the operating environment.

Remaining useful life estimation - A review on the statistical data driven approaches

TL;DR: This paper systematically reviews the recent modeling developments for estimating the RUL and focuses on statistical data driven approaches which rely only on available past observed data and statistical models.

Optimum Preventive Maintenance Policies

TL;DR: In this paper, two types of preventive maintenance policies are considered, and the optimum policies are determined, in each case, as unique solutions of certain integral equations depending on the failure distribution.

Condition monitoring and fault detection of wind turbines and related algorithms: A review

TL;DR: In this article, the authors reviewed different techniques, methodologies and algorithms developed to monitor the performance of wind turbine as well as for an early fault detection to keep away the wind turbines from catastrophic conditions due to sudden breakdowns.
Journal ArticleDOI

Applications of maintenance optimization models : a review and analysis

TL;DR: An overview of applications of maintenance optimization models published so far and the role of these models in maintenance is analyzed and the factors which may have hampered applications are discussed.
