An overview of time-based and condition-based maintenance in industrial application

TLDR
It can be concluded that the application of the CBM technique is more realistic, and thus more worthwhile to apply, than the TBM one, however, further research on CBM must be carried out in order to make it more realistic for making maintenance decisions.

Towards Autonomous Control in Maintenance and Spare Part Logistics – Challenges and Opportunities for Preacting Maintenance Concepts

TL;DR: In this article, an adjusted preactive maintenance concept is proposed, which implements autonomous control aspects in order to plan and control personnel, equipment, resources, etc. In doing so, different well known strategies are kept equitable within the concept but are replenished with an overall heterachical organized planning and controlling approach.
Journal ArticleDOI

Condition-based maintenance strategy for redundant systems with arbitrary structures using improved reinforcement learning

TL;DR: In this paper , the optimal condition-based maintenance (CBM) strategy for redundant systems with arbitrary system structures using improved reinforcement learning, considering failure and economic dependences, is investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Optimal maintenance decisions for deteriorating quoin blocks in miter gates subject to uncertainty in the condition rating protocol

TL;DR: A new Bayesian approach to estimate the ratio of errors in the OCA ratings is presented, which allows for improved accuracy in OCA rating-based prognosis.

Use Case Development to Advance Monitoring, Diagnostics, and Prognostics in Manufacturing Operations

TL;DR: In this article, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) developed a use case that is representative of common manufacturing operations to support the assessment of PHM technologies, including its three constituent research areas: Manufacturing Process and Equipment Monitoring Machine Tool Linear Axes Diagnostics and Prognostics, and Health and Control Management of Robot Systems.
Journal ArticleDOI

Condition-based maintenance for multi-component systems: Modeling, structural properties, and algorithms

TL;DR: A multi-stage stochastic integer model with the objective of minimizing the total maintenance cost over a finite planning horizon is developed and the structural properties of a two-stage model are investigated.

Optimum Preventive Maintenance Policies

TL;DR: In this paper, two types of preventive maintenance policies are considered, and the optimum policies are determined, in each case, as unique solutions of certain integral equations depending on the failure distribution.
