An overview of time-based and condition-based maintenance in industrial application

TLDR
It can be concluded that the application of the CBM technique is more realistic, and thus more worthwhile to apply, than the TBM one, however, further research on CBM must be carried out in order to make it more realistic for making maintenance decisions.

On the use of machine learning methods to predict component reliability from data-driven industrial case studies

TL;DR: This paper uses a supervised machine learning approach to predict the component reliability in 19 industrial components obtained from real industries, and shows how machine learning models obtain better prediction results with respect to traditional methods when increasing the size of the time-to-failure datasets.
Journal ArticleDOI

Condition-based maintenance of naval propulsion systems: data analysis with minimal feedback

TL;DR: This analysis considers a scenario where the collection of vast amounts of labelled data containing the decay state of the components is unfeasible, and proposes several Data Analysis supervised and unsupervised techniques for the Condition-Based Maintenance of a vessel, characterised by a combined diesel-electric and gas propulsion plant.
Journal ArticleDOI

Risk-based maintenance of offshore managed pressure drilling (MPD) operation

TL;DR: In this article, Bayesian Networks (BNs) are employed to develop the dynamic risk-based maintenance (RBM) models that are capable of using accident precursor information in order to update the risk profile.

Condition-based maintenance for multi-component systems using importance measure and predictive information

TL;DR: In this paper, a predictive condition-based maintenance strategy for multi-component systems whose structure may impact components deterioration process is presented, where a decision rule relying on both structural importance measure of components and their predictive reliability that can be estimated at inspection times is proposed.
Journal ArticleDOI

A mixed-integer linear programming model for integrated production and preventive maintenance scheduling in the capital goods industry

TL;DR: A novel mixed integer linear programming model for simultaneously solving the integrated production and preventive maintenance scheduling problem in the capital goods industry, which was tested using data from a collaborating company and found that the company’s total cost could be reduced by up to 63.5%.

Optimum Preventive Maintenance Policies

TL;DR: In this paper, two types of preventive maintenance policies are considered, and the optimum policies are determined, in each case, as unique solutions of certain integral equations depending on the failure distribution.
