Bayesian-Based Iterative Method of Image Restoration

TLDR
An iterative method of restoring degraded images was developed by treating images, point spread functions, and degraded images as probability-frequency functions and by applying Bayes’s theorem.
Abstract
An iterative method of restoring degraded images was developed by treating images, point spread functions, and degraded images as probability-frequency functions and by applying Bayes’s theorem. The method functions effectively in the presence of noise and is adaptable to computer operation.

Solving non-negative matrix factorization by alternating least squares with a modified strategy

TL;DR: A modified strategy for ANLS is proposed that can ensure the sequence generated by ANLS has at least one limit point, and this limit point is a stationary point of NMF.

Data reduction practice in X-ray reflectometry

TL;DR: Data reduction practice in X-ray reflectometry is described and the several approaches for applying certain corrections, such as background subtraction, geometrical effects and normalization, are compared and discussed.

Head-to-head comparison of image quality between brain 18F-FDG images recorded with a fully digital versus a last-generation analog PET camera.

TL;DR: On normal brain 18F-FDG images and compared with a last-generation analog PET, the fully digital PET camera offers marked improvements in image noise and contrast, as well as significant potential for further enhancing spatial resolution.

A Massive Protostar Forming by Ordered Collapse of a Dense, Massive Core

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented 30 and 40 micron imaging of the massive protostar G35 and combined these results with fluxes from the near-infrared to mm to construct a spectral energy distribution (SED).
Journal ArticleDOI

NGC 1566: analysis of the nuclear region from optical and near-infrared Integral Field Unit spectroscopy

TL;DR: In this article, the authors analyzed the center of NGC 1566, which hosts a well-studied active galactic nucleus (AGN), and they found that the AGN has a Seyfert 1 emission, with a very strong featureless continuum that they described as a power law with spectral index of 1.7.

Modern probability theory and its applications

TL;DR: Probability Theory as the study of Mathematical Models of Random Phenomena as mentioned in this paper is a generalization of probability theory for the study and analysis of statistical models of random variables.
Journal ArticleDOI

Image Evaluation and Restoration

TL;DR: The extent to which the processing approaches the optimum can be evaluated by determining the fraction of the total information content of the image which can be visually extracted after processing.

Restoration of Turbulence-Degraded Images*

TL;DR: In this paper, the amplitude and phase coefficients of the two-dimensional Fourier series representing the degraded images were corrected by applying corrections to the optical transfer function of the turbulence measured at the time the images were photographed.
