Bayesian-Based Iterative Method of Image Restoration

TLDR
An iterative method of restoring degraded images was developed by treating images, point spread functions, and degraded images as probability-frequency functions and by applying Bayes’s theorem.
Abstract
An iterative method of restoring degraded images was developed by treating images, point spread functions, and degraded images as probability-frequency functions and by applying Bayes’s theorem. The method functions effectively in the presence of noise and is adaptable to computer operation.

On super-resolution in astronomical imaging

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that super-resolution is feasible only for point sources and that for extended objects the information about intensity fluctuations at angular frequencies u > u max = D/A = 1/α min is irretrievably lost.

The distribution of exoplanet masses

TL;DR: In this article, the authors derived the distribution of secondary masses M2 for the 67 exoplanets and very low-mass brown-dwarf companions of solar-type stars, known as of April 4, 2001.

Unconventional methods of imaging: computational microscopy and compact implementations.

TL;DR: A review of lens-based computational imaging, in particular, light-field microscopy, structured illumination, synthetic aperture, Fourier ptychography, and compressive imaging, and how these and other microscopy modalities have been implemented in compact and field-portable devices, often based around smartphones.

The X-ray Remnant of SN1987A

TL;DR: In this article, high-resolution Chandra observations of the remnant of SN1987A in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) have been presented, showing that the X-ray emission is thermal in origin and dominated by highly ionized species of O, Ne, Mg, and Si.

Electron detection characteristics of a slow‐scan CCD camera, imaging plates and film, and electron image restoration

TL;DR: The Richardson‐Lucy algorithm for image restoration is described and tested for images recorded with the SSC camera and the effectiveness of image restored is demonstrated for the recorded high‐resolution lattice image, energy‐loss spectrum, and convergent beam electron diffraction (CBED) pattern.

Modern probability theory and its applications

TL;DR: Probability Theory as the study of Mathematical Models of Random Phenomena as mentioned in this paper is a generalization of probability theory for the study and analysis of statistical models of random variables.
Journal ArticleDOI

Image Evaluation and Restoration

TL;DR: The extent to which the processing approaches the optimum can be evaluated by determining the fraction of the total information content of the image which can be visually extracted after processing.

Restoration of Turbulence-Degraded Images*

TL;DR: In this paper, the amplitude and phase coefficients of the two-dimensional Fourier series representing the degraded images were corrected by applying corrections to the optical transfer function of the turbulence measured at the time the images were photographed.
