Bayesian-Based Iterative Method of Image Restoration

TLDR
An iterative method of restoring degraded images was developed by treating images, point spread functions, and degraded images as probability-frequency functions and by applying Bayes’s theorem.
Abstract
An iterative method of restoring degraded images was developed by treating images, point spread functions, and degraded images as probability-frequency functions and by applying Bayes’s theorem. The method functions effectively in the presence of noise and is adaptable to computer operation.

Multiresolution support applied to image filtering and restoration

TL;DR: The notion of a multiresolution support is introduced, which is a sequence of Boolean images related to significant pixels at each of a number of resolution levels used for noise suppression, in the context of image filtering, or iterative image restoration.

Linear and Nonlinear Image Deblurring: A Documented Study

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined the theoretical basis behind nonlinear image deblurring procedures based on probabilistic considerations and showed that the first three methods, as well as VanCittert's method, lack a necessary ingredient for successful solution of the ill-posed deblurring problem, while in the maximum entropy method, the enforced smoothness may have adverse consequences in medical imaging.

Analysis of energy spectra with low photon counts via Bayesian posterior simulation

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe a general description of the Bayesian paradigm for statistical inference and various state-of-the-art model-fitting techniques that are employed (e.g., the Gibbs sampler and the Metropolis-Hastings algorithm).

Dust depletion in the inner disk of β Pictoris as a possible indicator of planets

P. O. Lagage, +1 more
- 23 Jun 1994 -
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present an infrared image of the inner dust disk of the star β Pictoris with a linear resolution of 5 astronomical units (AU), equivalent to the distance from the Sun to Jupiter.

Modern probability theory and its applications

TL;DR: Probability Theory as the study of Mathematical Models of Random Phenomena as mentioned in this paper is a generalization of probability theory for the study and analysis of statistical models of random variables.

Image Evaluation and Restoration

TL;DR: The extent to which the processing approaches the optimum can be evaluated by determining the fraction of the total information content of the image which can be visually extracted after processing.

Restoration of Turbulence-Degraded Images*

TL;DR: In this paper, the amplitude and phase coefficients of the two-dimensional Fourier series representing the degraded images were corrected by applying corrections to the optical transfer function of the turbulence measured at the time the images were photographed.
