Bayesian-Based Iterative Method of Image Restoration

TLDR
An iterative method of restoring degraded images was developed by treating images, point spread functions, and degraded images as probability-frequency functions and by applying Bayes’s theorem.
Abstract
An iterative method of restoring degraded images was developed by treating images, point spread functions, and degraded images as probability-frequency functions and by applying Bayes’s theorem. The method functions effectively in the presence of noise and is adaptable to computer operation.

Reducing boundary artifacts in image deconvolution

TL;DR: This paper establishes new boundary conditions by smoothly expanding the input image to a large tile, which helps reducing the boundary discontinuities and accordingly makes all restoration filters based on Fast Fourier Transform not produce obvious image border artifacts.

Comparison of I5M and 4Pi-microscopy

TL;DR: It is not advisable to trade in the suppression of the sidelobes for a larger image signal with the current aperture angles and fluorescence signal strengths, and the capability of both techniques to image (aqueous) specimens without artefacts is investigated.

Inversion of the radiative transfer equation for polarized light

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors revisited the foundations of inversion techniques with an emphasis on making explicit the many assumptions underlying each of them, including the physics assumed to prevail both on the formation of the spectral line Stokes profiles and on their detection with the instrument.
Journal ArticleDOI

A flux-preserving non-linear inline holography reconstruction algorithm for partially coherent electrons.

TL;DR: A computationally efficient and flux-preserving iterative computer algorithm has been designed which allows the reconstruction of focal series recorded over a large focal range and arbitrary degrees of spatial coherence.

Modern probability theory and its applications

TL;DR: Probability Theory as the study of Mathematical Models of Random Phenomena as mentioned in this paper is a generalization of probability theory for the study and analysis of statistical models of random variables.

Image Evaluation and Restoration

TL;DR: The extent to which the processing approaches the optimum can be evaluated by determining the fraction of the total information content of the image which can be visually extracted after processing.

Restoration of Turbulence-Degraded Images*

TL;DR: In this paper, the amplitude and phase coefficients of the two-dimensional Fourier series representing the degraded images were corrected by applying corrections to the optical transfer function of the turbulence measured at the time the images were photographed.
