Bayesian-Based Iterative Method of Image Restoration

TLDR
An iterative method of restoring degraded images was developed by treating images, point spread functions, and degraded images as probability-frequency functions and by applying Bayes’s theorem.
Abstract
An iterative method of restoring degraded images was developed by treating images, point spread functions, and degraded images as probability-frequency functions and by applying Bayes’s theorem. The method functions effectively in the presence of noise and is adaptable to computer operation.

Fast Approximations of Shift-Variant Blur

TL;DR: Comparison of theoretical properties and empirical performances of each blur approximation suggests that the proposed general model is preferable for approximation and inversion of a known shift-variant blur.

Neutron source reconstruction from pinhole imaging at National Ignition Facility

TL;DR: This work has used iterative Maximum Likelihood techniques to remove the non-stationary distortions introduced by the aperture to reconstruct the underlying neutron source distributions, and presents the detailed algorithms used for these reconstructions.

A Nonnegatively Constrained Convex Programming Method for Image Reconstruction

TL;DR: A cost functional which incorporates the statistics of the noise in the image data and Tikhonov regularization to induce stability is developed and an efficient hybrid gradient projection-reduced Newton (active set) method is introduced.

Image Enhancement by Deconvolution

TL;DR: This chapter focuses on practical ways of assessing microscope performance and getting the best possible data before applying more sophisticated image processing methods than are usually seen in the literature.

Image Evaluation and Restoration

TL;DR: The extent to which the processing approaches the optimum can be evaluated by determining the fraction of the total information content of the image which can be visually extracted after processing.

Restoration of Turbulence-Degraded Images*

TL;DR: In this paper, the amplitude and phase coefficients of the two-dimensional Fourier series representing the degraded images were corrected by applying corrections to the optical transfer function of the turbulence measured at the time the images were photographed.
