Characteristics and source distribution of air pollution in winter in Qingdao, eastern China
TLDR
The ambient pollutant concentrations in Qingdao in winter could be attributed to local primary emissions, coal combustion, vehicular, domestic and industrial emissions, secondary formation, and long distance transmission of emissions.About:

Air pollution episodes during the COVID-19 outbreak in the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei region of China: An insight into the transport pathways and source distribution
TL;DR: The results indicated that the BTH region suffered two large-scale air pollution episodes (23–28 January and 8–13 February), which were characterized by elevated PM2.5, SO2, NO2, and CO concentrations, while the O3 concentration decreased by 1.5% (except in Shijiazhuang, where it increased by 16.6% during the second episode).

Research and application of a novel hybrid air quality early-warning system: A case study in China.
Chen Li,Zhijie Zhu +1 more
TL;DR: A hybrid model composed of the theory of "decomposition and ensemble", an extreme learning machine and an advanced heuristic algorithm was developed for pollution contaminant prediction and provides deterministic and interval forecasting for tackling the uncertainty of future air quality.
Journal ArticleDOI
Feasibility study on applications of an Earth-air Heat Exchanger (EAHE) for preheating fresh air in severe cold regions
TL;DR: In this article, the feasibility of EAHE combined with heat recovery unit (HRU) as an independent heat source to heat cold air in severe cold regions was firstly verified.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impacts of meteorology and vegetation on surface dust concentrations in Middle Eastern countries
TL;DR: Dust levels in Kuwait were higher than the other four countries, and had a distinct seasonal pattern, with the highest in summer and the lowest in winter, highlighting that climatic variations and vegetation conditions are associated with changes in dust levels in arid regions.

A seriously sand storm mixed air-polluted area in the margin of Tarim Basin: Temporal-spatial distribution and potential sources.
Hao Yu,Wen Yang,Wang Xinhua,Baohui Yin,Xian Zhang,Jing Wang,Chao Gu,Jing Ming,Chunmei Geng,Zhipeng Bai +9 more
TL;DR: This study comprehensively analyzes the pollution characteristics of air pollutants in five important cities in the southern margin of the Tarim Basin for the first time, and will provide an important reference basis for the prevention and control of air pollution in southern Xinjiang.

H. Prévôt +25 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that, in addition to mitigating primary particulate emissions, reducing the emissions of secondary aerosol precursors from fossil fuel combustion and biomass burning is likely to be important for controlling China’s PM2.5 levels and for reducing the environmental, economic and health impacts resulting from particulate pollution.
An Overview of the HYSPLIT_4 Modelling System for Trajectories, Dispersion, and Deposition
TL;DR: The HYSPLIT_4 (HYbrid Single-Particle Lagrangian Integrated Trajectory) model is designed for quick response to atmospheric emergencies, diagnostic case studies, or climatological analyses using previously gridded meteorological data.

Song Guo,Min Hu,Misti L. Zamora,Jianfei Peng,Dongjie Shang,Jing Zheng,Zhuofei Du,Zhijun Wu,Min Shao,Limin Zeng,Mario J. Molina,Renyi Zhang,Renyi Zhang +12 more
TL;DR: A periodic cycle of PM episodes in Beijing is demonstrated that is governed by meteorological conditions and characterized by two distinct aerosol formation processes of nucleation and growth, but with a small contribution from primary emissions and regional transport of particles.

Fine particulate matter (PM 2.5) in China at a city level
Yan-Lin Zhang,Fang Cao +1 more
TL;DR: It is found only 25 out of 190 cities could meet the National Ambient Air Quality Standards of China, and the population-weighted mean of PM2.5 in Chinese cities are 61 μg/m3, ~3 times as high as global population- Weighted mean, highlighting a high health risk.

TrajStat: GIS-based software that uses various trajectory statistical analysis methods to identify potential sources from long-term air pollution measurement data
TL;DR: Using these methods, the geographic information system (GIS) based software, TrajStat, was developed to view, query, and cluster the trajectories and compute the potential source contribution function (PSCF) and concentration weighted trajectory (CWT) analyses when measurement data are included.
