The entanglement potential detects nonclassicality, has a direct physical interpretation, and can be computed efficiently, which make it stand out from previously proposed non classicality measures.Abstract:
We propose the entanglement potential (EP) as a measure of nonclassicality for quantum states of a single-mode electromagnetic field. It is the amount of two-mode entanglement that can be generated from the field using linear optics, auxiliary classical states, and ideal photodetectors. The EP detects nonclassicality, has a direct physical interpretation, and can be computed efficiently. These three properties together make it stand out from previously proposed nonclassicality measures. We derive closed expressions for the EP of important classes of states and analyze as an example of the degradation of nonclassicality in lossy channels.read more

Multiphoton quantum optics and quantum state engineering
TL;DR: A review of theoretical and experimental aspects of multiphoton quantum optics can be found in this paper, where the authors focus on parametric processes in nonlinear media, with special emphasis on the engineering of nonclassical states of photons and atoms that are relevant for the conceptual investigations and for the practical applications of modern quantum mechanics.

TL;DR: A protocol in which general nonclassical multipartite correlations produce a physically relevant effect, leading to the creation of bipartite entanglement, emphasizing the key role of state mixedness in maximizing non classicality.

On the Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen paradox
TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that even without such a separability or locality requirement, no hidden variable interpretation of quantum mechanics is possible and that such an interpretation has a grossly nonlocal structure, which is characteristic of any such theory which reproduces exactly the quantum mechanical predictions.

Coherent and incoherent states of the radiation field
TL;DR: In this article, the photon statistics of arbitrary fields in fully quantum-mechanical terms are discussed, and a general method of representing the density operator for the field is discussed as well as a simple formulation of a superposition law for photon fields.

Experimental Test of Bell's Inequalities Using Time- Varying Analyzers
TL;DR: In this article, the relationship of linear polarizations of pairs of photons was measured with time-varying analyzers, and the results were in good agreement with quantum mechanical predictions but violate Bell's inequalities by 5 standard deviations.

Peres-horodecki separability criterion for continuous variable systems
TL;DR: The Peres-Horodecki criterion of positivity under partial transpose is studied in the context of separability of bipartite continuous variable states and turns out to be a necessary and sufficient condition for separability.
