Potential of ozone addition on dethrottling of a gasoline/ethanol blend-fueled direct injection spark ignition engine in part load

TL;DR: In this paper , ozone addition was tested as an ignition enhancer that would allow higher de-throttling to reduce part-load pumping losses, and the residual gas was used to dilute the mixture due to the possibility of keeping the three-way catalyst working properly with the stoichiometric mixture.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Simulation Analysis Spray of the Butanol and Diesel Fuel Mixed with Injection Pressure and Air Flow Intensity

TL;DR: In this paper, a visualization experiment of spray characteristics on butanol diesel mixed fuel was carried out, using the software Fire of the company of AVL to establish a simulation model of n-butyl alcohol diesel spray and calculating the spray characteristics of N25 mixed fuel on the different turbulence intensity and different injection pressure, and contrast the result of experiment, and then analysis the velocity distribution and concentration distribution, spray penetration and Sauter Mean Diameter of the mixed fuel under the injection pressure of 120MPa.

Cool diffusion flames in a stably stratified stagnation flow

TL;DR: In this paper , the first observations of cool flames burning near the surfaces of fuel pools were made using a color camera and an intensified camera, and the measured peak temperatures were between 705 and 760 K and were 70 K above the temperature of the surrounding air.
Journal ArticleDOI

Variable time-stepping exponential integrators for chemical reactors with analytical Jacobians

TL;DR: In this article , a novel exponential time integrator, EPI3V, is introduced and applied to a spatially homogeneous isobaric reactive mixture, and a performance analysis of the exponential method is provided, demonstrating possible avenues for performance improvement.

High Combustion Temperature for the Reduction of Particulate in Diesel Engines

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of temperature T and equivalence ratio Φ on soot formation at high pressures up to 5 MPa were investigated in a diesel engine and the trajectory in relation to both soot and NO formation region gives suggestion of a possibility of high temperature mixture combustion to reduce particulate formation in diesel engines.
Journal ArticleDOI

Numerical study on the low emission window of homogeneous charge compression ignition diesel combustion

TL;DR: In this article, a numerical study of the low emission window (lower than 10 grams/kg-f CO, 10g/kgf HC, 0.5 grams/ kg-f NO and almost soot-less) of diesel HCCI combustion was performed over wide ranges by changing equivalence ratio, inlet temperature, intake valve closure timing, engine speed and fuel amount.

Investigation of the Roles of Flame Propagation, Turbulent Mixing, and Volumetric Heat Release in Conventional and Low Temperature Diesel Combustion

TL;DR: In this paper, a multi-mode combustion model that combines a comprehensive kinetics scheme for volumetric heat release and a level-set-based model for turbulent flame propagation is applied over the range of engine combustion regimes from non-premixed to premixed conditions.
