Impact of porcine epidemic diarrhea on performance of growing pigs.

TL;DR: A poorer performance of growing pigs weaned after a PEDv outbreak compared with those weaned within the previous 14-120 days is demonstrated, suggesting that in addition to the mortality induced by P EDv in suckling pigs, the disease also impairs the performance of surviving pig.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of intranasal inoculation of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus, Bordetella bronchiseptica, or a combination of both organisms in pigs

TL;DR: Clinical disease was exacerbated in co-infected pigs, including an increased febrile response, decreased weight gain, and B bronchiseptica-induced pneumonia, which may cause clinical respiratory tract disease and leave pigs more susceptible to subsequent infection with opportunistic bacteria.
Journal ArticleDOI

Diarrhoea in the growing pig - a comparison of clinical, morphological and microbial findings between animals from good and poor performance herds.

TL;DR: The presence of Brachyspira pilosicoli and Lawsonia intracellularis was significantly correlated to poor performing herds and the results indicate that these microbes are main pathogens involved in enteric diseases among Swedish grower pigs.
Journal ArticleDOI

Improved Diagnostic PCR Assay for Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae Based on the Nucleotide Sequence of an Outer Membrane Lipoprotein

TL;DR: The specificity and sensitivity of this PCR compared to those of culture suggest the use ofThis PCR for routine identification of A. pleuropneumoniae is recommended.
Journal ArticleDOI

Relationships among specific reasons for culling, reproductive data, and gross morphology of the genital tracts in gilts culled due to reproductive failure in Thailand.

TL;DR: The present study aims to investigate genital organs of replacement gilts culled due to reproductive failure, and the relationship between gross morphological findings and historical reproductive data.
