Transmission of Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae in pigs under field-like conditions: emphasis on tonsillar colonisation and passively acquired colostral antibodies

TL;DR: The cumulative proportion of pigs carrying A. pleuropneumoniae in their tonsils increased significantly between the age of 4-12 weeks, which corresponded to the age at which the proportion of pig with detectable levels of colostral antibodies to the different serotypes of A. Pleurop pneumoniae was declining.

Potential use of an unencapsulated and aromatic amino acid-auxotrophic Streptococcus suis mutant as a live attenuated vaccine in swine.

TL;DR: A non-virulent, aromatic amino acid-auxotrophic and unencapsulated mutant strain of S. suis was generated in this study and a preliminary evaluation of its protective capacities was conducted in swine and it may be useful to further evaluate strain BD101 as a vaccine candidate.
