TL;DR: Results indicate that the rsPMT-PM vaccine could be used to provide protective immunity for controlling the prevalence and severity of PAR among farm-raised swine.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of feed withdrawal prior to slaughter on prevalence of gastric ulcers in pigs.
J. H. Eisemann,W. E. Morgan Morrow,M. Todd See,Peter R. Davies,Peter R. Davies,Kelly D. Zering +5 more
TL;DR: Results suggest that withdrawal of feed from pigs prior to slaughter does not increase damage to the stomach and that repeated feed withdrawal does not result in fatal gastric ulceration.
Journal ArticleDOI
Detection of a plasmid-encoded pathogenicity island in F18+ enterotoxigenic and verotoxigenic Escherichia coli from weaned pigs
Péter Zsolt Fekete,György Schneider,György Schneider,Ferenc Olasz,Gabriele Blum-Oehler,Jörg Hacker,Béla Nagy +6 more
TL;DR: The results suggest the existence and worldwide spread of a new plasmid-encoded pathogenicity island in porcine post weaning ETEC and ETEC/VTEC strains producing F18 fimbriae.
Journal ArticleDOI
Motility characteristics of boar spermatozoa after addition of prostaglandin F2α
TL;DR: This study investigated whether the sperm motility from 20 Piétrain boars improved when PGF2alpha (Dinolytic; 5 mg PGF 2alpha/ml) was added to diluted semen and documented that the addition of 2.5, 5 or 10 mg P GF2alpha to 100 ml diluted boar sperm does not increase any sperm Motility parameter.
Journal ArticleDOI
Intestinal spirochetes isolated from wild-living jackdaws, hooded crows and rooks (genus Corvus): provisionally designated "Brachyspira corvi" sp. nov.
TL;DR: It is proposed that the described isolates from corvid birds belong to a novel species within genus Brachyspira, with the provisional name "BrachyspirA corvi" (cor'vi, of a crow).
