TLDR
In twin pregnancies, the rates of adverse perinatal outcome and subsequent long‐term morbidity are substantial, and mainly result from preterm birth (PTB).About:

Novel concepts on pregnancy clocks and alarms: redundancy and synergy in human parturition
TL;DR: A comprehensive synthesis of the mediators that contribute to the timing of human labor is provided, putting forth the core hypothesis that fetal membrane (amnion and chorion) senescence is the initiator of a coordinated, redundant signal cascade leading to parturition.

TL;DR: To assess the efficacy of vaginal progesterone for the prevention of preterm birth and neonatal morbidity and mortality in asymptomatic women with a twin gestation and a sonographic short cervix in the mid‐trimester, a large number of studies have found it to be effective.

TL;DR: The use of a cervical pessary for preventing preterm birth in twin pregnancies of mothers with a short cervix was proposed and was associated with a significant reduction in the SPB rate.
Journal ArticleDOI
Risk assessment and management to prevent preterm birth
TL;DR: Pregnancy-related characteristics, including bacterial vaginosis and asymptomatic bacteriuria, appear to be of limited value in the prediction of preterm birth, and a mid-pregnancy cervical length measurement is independently associated with pre term birth and could be used to identify women at risk of a premature delivery.

Measuring inconsistency in meta-analyses
TL;DR: A new quantity is developed, I 2, which the authors believe gives a better measure of the consistency between trials in a meta-analysis, which is susceptible to the number of trials included in the meta- analysis.
