Few-cycle optical pulse production from collimated femtosecond laser beam filamentation

TL;DR: In this paper, a scheme for stable shot-to-shot few-cycle pulse production has been realized by launching an initially collimated laser beam into a gas tube, and the optimum parameters for the sevenfold compression of 55 fs, 5 mJ, Ti:Sapphire laser pulses are the following: 0.8-0.9 atm argon gas pressure and registration aperture with a diameter of 300-700 μm.

Pulse shortening, spatial mode cleaning, and intense terahertz generation by filamentation in xenon

TL;DR: In this article, the authors performed a comprehensive study of filamentation in xenon and found that due to its high nonlinear refraction index, but relatively low ionization potential, xenon can support filamentation at peak powers lower than in air.

Robust authentication through stochastic femtosecond laser filament induced scattering surfaces

TL;DR: In this article, a femtosecond laser filament induced scattering surfaces are used for authentication in the context of optical circuits. But the authors focus on the authentication of optical devices.

Optical spatial solitons and modulation instabilities in transparent entangled polymer solutions

TL;DR: Fully transparent nondilute polydiene solutions exhibit optical nonlinearities when irradiated by a low-power cw laser in the visible when the origin of the nonlinearity remains elusive.

Plasma perspective on strong field multiphoton ionization.

TL;DR: During strong-field multiphoton ionization, a wave packet is formed each time the laser field passes its maximum value, and one important parameter which determines the strength of these effects is the rate at which the wave packet spreads in the direction perpendicular to the laser electric field.
