Ranking and transformation error assessment of shear strength parameters correlations

TL;DR: In this article, the most commonly used empirical correlations were ranked based on amended Theil inequality coefficient method, then the transformation error was determined using uncertainty propagation combined with the second moment probabilistic method (RUP-SMP).
Journal ArticleDOI

Evaluation of SPT energy for Donut and Safety hammers using CPT measurements in Egypt

TL;DR: In this article, an evaluation of the energy efficiency of the donut and safety hammers commonly used in Egypt and the associated energy correction factor is presented. But, there are no published data supporting commonly used value in Egypt.
Journal ArticleDOI

Presentation of Empirical Equations for Estimating Internal Friction Angle of GW and GC Soils in Mashhad, Iran Using Standard Penetration and Direct Shear Tests and Comparison with Previous Equations

TL;DR: In this article, empirical equations were derived to estimate internal friction angle, based on SPT numbers of Mashhad City's soils in Iran, using SPT and direct shear tests results from 50 samples (25 GW and 25 GC soil samples).

Developing an Efficiency Equation for Tapered Pile Groups in Sand Using Mathematical and Numerical Analyses

TL;DR: In this paper, a new simple equation for prediction of pile group efficiency considering the effect of tapering angle in cohesionless soil under vertical loading is presented, where a simple analytical relationship based on the mathematical definition of the pile group group efficiency is developed.

Correlations of SPT and DCPT data for sandy soils in Ghana

TL;DR: In this article, a correlation between the results of the two in-situ tests is linear for sandy soils and allowable bearing capacity is investigated, and the results indicate that the relation between the SPT and the DCPT results is linear.
