TLDR
Phytosterols and phytostanols have received much attention in the last five years because of their cholesterol-lowering properties and the popularity of these products has caused the medical and biochemical community to focus much attention on phytosterol research activity.About:

Effects of genotype and sowing date on phytostanol–phytosterol content and agronomic traits in wheat under organic agriculture
Marion Alignan,Marion Alignan,Jane Roche,Jane Roche,Andrée Bouniols,Andrée Bouniols,Muriel Cerny,Muriel Cerny,Zéphirin Mouloungui,Zéphirin Mouloungui,Othmane Merah,Othmane Merah +11 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that the genotypic factor prevails over the sowing date factor for determining sterol and stanol traits in wheat cultivated under organic conditions, which can be used to drive bioaccumulation of these molecules.
Journal ArticleDOI
Migration of health promoting microconstituents from frying vegetable oils to French fries
TL;DR: The concentrations of these compounds in French fries are mainly affected by the oil type, oil quality, and the frying procedure adopted as mentioned in this paper, thus presenting higher concentrations in the former, while polyphenols seem to survive better inside the food tissue than in the oil.
Journal ArticleDOI
Purification and identification of rice bran oil fatty acid steryl and wax esters
TL;DR: In this article, Fatty acid steryl esters and wax esters (WE) of rice bran oil (RBO) were extracted from RBO by a modified Soxhlet extraction using hexane as the solvent.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mycorrhizae enhance nitrogen fixation and photosynthesis in phosphorus starved soybean (Glycine max L. Merrill)
Rafaela Gageti Bulgarelli,Fernanda C.C. Marcos,Rafael Vasconcelos Ribeiro,Sara Adrián López de Andrade +3 more
TL;DR: Evaluating the effects of P starvation on the influence of arbuscular mycorrhiza (AM) symbiosis on N 2 -fixing capacities, plant growth, nutrient uptake and photosynthetic performance of soybean plants at flowering and grain filling stages indicated the AM stimulus to symbiotic N 2 fixation (SNF) and photosynthesis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Phytosterols, phytostanols and their esters: from natural to functional foods
TL;DR: This review focuses on the biochemistry of phytosterols, their metabolism and role in health and in pathological conditions and investigates the effect ofphytosterol consumption on the development of cardiovascular diseases.

A rapid method of total lipid extraction and purification.
E. G. Bligh,W. J. Dyer +1 more
TL;DR: The lipid decomposition studies in frozen fish have led to the development of a simple and rapid method for the extraction and purification of lipids from biological materials that has been applied to fish muscle and may easily be adapted to use with other tissues.

Hoeg,Basil M. Rifkind,Jacques E. Rossouw,Christopher T. Sempos,Joanne M. Gallivan,Maureen N. Harris,Laurie Quint-Adler +27 more
TL;DR: Dairy therapy remains the first line of treatment of high blood cholesterol, and drug therapy is reserved for patients who are considered to be at high risk for CHD, and the fundamental approach to treatment is comparable.

Accumulation of Dietary Cholesterol in Sitosterolemia Caused by Mutations in Adjacent ABC Transporters
Knut Erik Berge,Hui Tian,Gregory A. Graf,Liqing Yu,Nick V. Grishin,Joshua Schultz,Peter Kwiterovich,Bei Shan,Robert Barnes,Helen H. Hobbs +9 more
TL;DR: Data suggest that ABCG5 and ABCG8 normally cooperate to limit intestinal absorption and to promote biliary excretion of sterols, and that mutated forms of these transporters predispose to sterol accumulation and atherosclerosis.
