- Vol. 19, Iss: 1, pp 39-88
TLDR
R1 is a program that configures VAX-11/780 computer systems and uses Match as its principal problem solving method; it has sufficient knowledge of the configuration domain and of the peculiarities of the various configuration constraints that at each step in the configuration process, it simply recognizes what to do.

Measuring Success and Failure in the Commercial Application of Expert Systems: ‘Hard’ Measures for ‘Soft’ Systems?

TL;DR: In this article, the authors identify criteria applicable to measuring the success of expert systems and consider the relationship between the criteria of measurement and the class of expert system, this classification being based upon the system's objectives.

Quality-aware Service-Oriented Software Product Lines: Feature-Driven Process Configuration and Optimization

TL;DR: The Configurable Process Models are proposed as the realization of SOSPLs, where services are the building blocks for the implementation of software features, which provide support for variation among members of a product line configured based on stakeholders' requirements.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

A parallel architecture for large scale production systems

TL;DR: The authors present an architecture, suitable for implementation on a shared memory multiprocessor system, in which all the phases can run in parallel, and a new lock which provides concurrency beyond the standard two-phase locking in databases is used.

Production rules as a representation for a knowledge-based consultation program

TL;DR: The MYCIN system has begun to exhibit a high level of performance as a consultant on the difficult task of selecting antibiotic therapy for bacteremia and issues of representation and design for the system are discussed.

Production system conflict resolution strategies1

TL;DR: In this article, the authors explore the role of conflict resolution in providing support for production systems designed to function and grow in environments that make large numbers of different, sometimes competing, and sometimes unexpected demands.
