TLDR
In this paper, the most important mechanisms of generation and transport of the key species in the plasmas of atmospheric-pressure plasma jets and other non-equilibrium atmospheric pressure plasms are introduced and examined from the viewpoint of their applications in plasma hygiene and medicine and other relevant fields.

Plasma poration: Transdermal electric fields, conduction currents, and reactive species transport.

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors measured the plasma induced electric fields in each skin layer and found that the maximum electric field in the stratum corneum is 43 kV/cm, while the electric field strength in the active epidermis and dermis is about 1.8 kv/cm.

Gas temperature spatial distribution in air corona discharge with plane comb of metal rod electrodes derived from schlieren images

TL;DR: In this paper, the negative and positive polarities of the applied voltage were determined for the air corona discharge with a plane comb electrode system, and the results indicated that the gas in the studied electrode system does not undergo heating at the given range of working parameters.

Mechanisms and safety of air plasma inactivated SARS-CoV-2

TL;DR: Wang et al. as discussed by the authors employed cold atmospheric plasma (CAP) with air-feeding gas to directly inactivate SARS-CoV-2 and showed that the typical SARS CoV2 morphological spikes disappeared after plasma treatment.

Preliminary study of plasma-treated water for germination stimulation of agricultural seeds

TL;DR: In this paper, the plasma treatment of water has been used to stimulate the germination of agricultural seed, i.e., water spinach (Ipomoea aquatica), and the results demonstrate that the water spinach seeds treated by plasma-treated water not only had better germination rate and germination index, but also had a higher length index and weight.

Plasma-activated water for improved intercalation and pseudocapacitance of MnO2 supercapacitor electrodes†

TL;DR: In this article , the authors developed the first use of PAW (pH 3.2) for the synthesis of MnO2 supercapacitor materials that exhibit high specific capacitance.

Superoxide Dismutase AN ENZYMIC FUNCTION FOR ERYTHROCUPREIN (HEMOCUPREIN)

TL;DR: The demonstration that O2·- can reduce ferricytochrome c and tetranitromethane, and that superoxide dismutase, by competing for the superoxide radicals, can markedly inhibit these reactions, is demonstrated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Free Radicals in the Physiological Control of Cell Function

Wulf Dröge
TL;DR: There is growing evidence that aging involves, in addition, progressive changes in free radical-mediated regulatory processes that result in altered gene expression.

Nitric Oxide and Peroxynitrite in Health and Disease

TL;DR: Current evidence indicates that most of the cytotoxicity attributed to NO is rather due to peroxynitrite, produced from the diffusion-controlled reaction between NO and another free radical, the superoxide anion, which is presented in detail in this review.

Photodynamic therapy for cancer

TL;DR: PDT is being tested in the clinic for use in oncology — to treat cancers of the head and neck, brain, lung, pancreas, intraperitoneal cavity, breast, prostate and skin.

Photodynamic Therapy

C.J. Gomer
TL;DR: A comprehensive review of mechanisms of subcellular and tumor localization of photosensitizing agents, as well as of molecular, cellular, and tumor responses associated with photodynamic therapy, are discussed.
