The evaluation of recombinant hookworm antigens as vaccines in hamsters (Mesocricetus auratus) challenged with human hookworm, Necator americanus.

TLDR
Data on the worm burden reductions afforded by these hookworm antigens approximate the level of protection reported previously from dogs challenged with A. caninum L3, and provide additional evidence to support these hookworms antIGens as vaccine candidates for human hookworm infection.

A portrait of the "SCP/TAPS" proteins of eukaryotes--developing a framework for fundamental research and biotechnological outcomes.

TL;DR: A comprehensive, systematic phylogenetic analysis of currently available full-length protein sequence data is undertaken to infer relationships and provide a framework (based on statistical support) for the naming of key SCP/TAPS proteins of eukaryotes, with an emphasis on parasitic helminths.

The global burden of intestinal nematode infections — Fifty years on

TL;DR: Using a mathematical model, it is estimated that approximately 70% of this burden can be prevented in high-prevalence communities by treating schoolchildren alone, and hence this provides a realistic approach for combating these infections in the future.
