The ‘hybrid’ scenario in JET: towards its validation for ITER

TL;DR: In this article, the performance of the hybrid regime was validated in JET experiments up to βN = 2.8 at low toroidal field (1.7 T), with plasma triangularity and normalized Larmor radius (ρ*) corresponding to identical ASDEX Upgrade discharges.
Journal ArticleDOI

The improved H-mode at ASDEX Upgrade: a candidate for an ITER hybrid scenario

TL;DR: Improved H-mode plasmas are documented for 3.2 1 sawteeth as the main trigger of large amplitude neoclassical tearing modes are avoided in this article, where the existence domain in the q95 range, the dependence on the normalized Larmor radius and initial experiments showing that high performance improved H-modes can be obtained with strong central ion cyclotron resonance heating (ICRH).
Journal ArticleDOI

Towards the realization on JET of an integrated H-mode scenario for ITER

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors focused on discharges with normalized parameters for plasma density, energy confinement and beta similar to those of the ITER Q(DT) = 10 = 1.
Journal ArticleDOI

Divertor tokamak operation at high densities on ASDEX Upgrade

O. Gruber, +148 more
TL;DR: In this paper, an upper density limit is found which represents a non-disruptive H - L back transition, which is preceded by the occurrence of type-III ELMs.
