Deep proteomic analysis of human microglia and model systems reveal fundamental biological differences of in vitro and ex vivo cells

TL;DR: Using high resolution quantitative mass spectrometry, in-depth proteome maps of human and mouse ex vivo and in vitro microglia are generated and it is revealed a tenfold difference in protein content of ex vivoand in vitro cells and fundamental differences in protein expression related to protein synthesis, metabolism, microglia markers and environmental sensors.
Posted ContentDOI

AAV mediated delivery of a novel anti-BACE1 VHH reduces Abeta in an Alzheimer\'s disease mouse model

TL;DR: A gene transfer strategy based on adeno-associated virus (AAV)-based vectors to deliver VHH directly into the central nervous system, ensuring continuous production at therapeutic levels is proposed, which is applicable to a range of CNS disease targets.
Posted ContentDOI

A multi-pronged human microglia response to Alzheimer’s disease Aβ pathology

TL;DR: Investigation of 127,000 single cell expression profiles of human microglia isolated freshly from a xenotransplantation model for early AD finds specific polygenic risk genes are enriched in each branch of these multi-pronged response of humanmicroglia to amyloid pathology (ARM).
Journal ArticleDOI

Cancer and neurodegeneration meet.

TL;DR: The EMBO Molecular Medicine aims to divulge this knowledge and promote a faster pace for its translation into the clinics as discussed by the authors, which is the goal of the EMBO Conference on Molecular Medicine.
