Journal ArticleDOI
Genome-wide screening of genes associated with momilactone B sensitivity in the fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe.
Keisuke Tomita,Yoko Yashiroda,Yasuhiro Matsuo,Jeff S. Piotrowski,Sheena C. Li,Reika Okamoto,Mami Yoshimura,Hiromi Kimura,Yumi Kawamura,Makoto Kawamukai,Charles Boone,Minoru Yoshida,Hideaki Nojiri,Kazunori Okada +13 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors explored the genetic determinants of momilactone B sensitivity in yeast to gain insight into its mode of action, and found that increased expression of pmd1, bfr1, pap1, arp9, or SPAC9E9.06c conferred resistance to the drug.

Reduced Gene Dosage of Histone H4 Prevents CENP-A Mislocalization in Budding Yeast
Munira A. Basrai,Jessica R. Eisenstatt,Kentaro Ohkuni,Olivia Preston,Wei-Chun Au,Michael Costanzo,Charles Boone +6 more
TL;DR: A genome-wide screen was used to identify factors that facilitate the mislocalization of overexpressed Cse4 by characterizing suppressors of the psh1Δ GALCSE4 SDL and defined a role for the gene dosage of H4 in facilitating CSE4 sumoylation and mis localization to non-centromeric regions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Decyl Gallate as a Possible Inhibitor of N-Glycosylation Process in Paracoccidioides lutzii.
Ana Elizabete Silva,Haroldo Cesar de Oliveira,Liliana Scorzoni,Caroline Maria Marcos,Claudia Tavares dos Santos,Ana Marisa Fusco-Almeida,Ana Carolina Guerta Salina,Ana Carolina Guerta Salina,Alexandra Ivo de Medeiros,Fausto Almeida,Sheena C. Li,Charles Boone,Maria José Soares Mendes-Giannini +12 more
TL;DR: G14 may have an important role in balancing the inflammatory reaction caused by fungal infection, without interfering with the microbicidal activity of nitric oxide, according to new information on the activity of G14, a potential anti-Paracoccidioides compound.

Systematic mapping of genetic interactions for de novo fatty acid synthesis
Michael Aregger,Keith A. Lawson,Maximilian Billmann,Michael Costanzo,Tong Ahy,Katie Chan,Mahfuzur Rahman,Kevin R. Brown,Catherine Ross,Matej Usaj,Lyudmila Nedyalkova,Olga Sizova,Andrea Habsid,Judy Pawling,Zhen-Yuan Lin,Hala Abdouni,Alexander Weiss,Patricia Mero,James W. Dennis,Anne-Claude Gingras,Anne-Claude Gingras,Chad L. Myers,Brenda J. Andrews,Charles Boone,Jason Moffat +24 more
TL;DR: The genetic determinants underlying the cellular adaptation associated with loss of de novo fatty acid synthesis are highlighted and the power of systematic GI mapping for uncovering metabolic buffering mechanisms in human cells is demonstrated.

Genetic Profiling of Protein Burden and Nuclear Export Overload
Reiko Kintaka,Koji Makanae,Hisaaki Kato,Shinsuke Ohnuki,Yoshikazu Ohya,Brenda J. Andrews,Charles Boone,Hisao Moriya +7 more
TL;DR: Genetic profiling of protein burden was performed by systematic analysis of genetic interactions between GFP-op, surveying both deletion mutants of nonessential genes and temperature-sensitive mutants of essential genes, in the budding yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae and suggested that this protein probe overloads the proteasome.
