Land cover changes and their biogeophysical effects on climate
Rezaul Mahmood,Roger A. Pielke,Kenneth G. Hubbard,Dev Niyogi,Paul A. Dirmeyer,Clive McAlpine,Andrew M. Carleton,Robert Hale,Samuel Gameda,Adriana Beltrán-Przekurat,Bruce Baker,Richard T. McNider,David R. Legates,Marshall Shepherd,Jinyang Du,Peter D. Blanken,Oliver W. Frauenfeld,U. S. Nair,Souleymane Fall +18 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors provide an overview and synthesis of some of the most notable types of land cover changes and their impacts on climate, including agriculture, deforestation and afforestation, desertification, and urbanization.
Journal ArticleDOI
Validation of Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer Soil Moisture Products
Thomas J. Jackson,Michael H. Cosh,Rajat Bindlish,Patrick J. Starks,David D. Bosch,Mark S. Seyfried,David C. Goodrich,M.S. Moran,Jinyang Du +8 more
TL;DR: Four soil moisture networks were developed and used as part of the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer-Earth Observing System (AMSR-E) validation program, and it is shown that there is much room for improvement in the algorithms currently in use by JAXA and NASA.
Journal ArticleDOI
Improving land surface temperature modeling for dry land of China
TL;DR: In this paper, two improvements of the original Noah land surface modeling for China's dry-land areas were presented, including the replacement of the model's z0h scheme with a new one.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nair,Scott Dobler,Ravinesh C. Deo,Jozef Syktus +38 more
TL;DR: In this paper, several recommendations have been proposed for detecting land use and land cover change (LULCC) on the environment from, observed climatic records and to modeling to improve its understanding and its impacts on climate.
