A double-blind randomized controlled trial of N-acetylcysteine in cannabis-dependent adolescents.

TL;DR: This is the first randomized controlled trial of pharmacotherapy for cannabis dependence in any age group to yield a positive primary cessation outcome in an intent-to-treat analysis, and findings support NAC as a pharmacotherapy to complement psychosocial treatment for Cannabis dependence in adolescents.

TL;DR: Findings suggest that pre-existing neural features that relate to increased substance use during adolescence include poorer neuropsychological functioning on tests of inhibition and working memory, smaller gray and white matter volume, changes in white matter integrity, and altered brain activation during inhibition,Working memory, reward, and resting state.
