Journal ArticleDOI
Patient organisation-led initiatives can play an important role in raising awareness about Raynaud's phenomenon and encourage earlier healthcare utilisation for high-risk groups.
TL;DR: Raynaud’s phenomenon manifests as episodic vasospasm of the extremities in response to cold exposure, which results in pain, numbness, impaired function and reduced quality of life.
Journal ArticleDOI
Time to first positive HIV-1 DNA PCR may differ with antiretroviral regimen in infants infected with non-B subtype HIV-1.
Raji Balasubramanian,Mary Glenn Fowler,Kenneth L. Dominguez,Shahin Lockman,Shahin Lockman,Pat A Tookey,Nicole Ngo Giang Huong,Nicole Ngo Giang Huong,Steven Nesheim,Michael Hughes,Marc Lallemant,Marc Lallemant,Jennifer Tosswill,Nathan Shaffer,Gayle G. Sherman,Paul Palumbo,David Shapiro +16 more
TL;DR: Time to first positive HIV- 1 DNA PCR in HIV-1-infected nonbreastfed infants (non-B HIV subtype) may differ according to maternal/infant antiretroviral regimen and may be longer with infant cART, which may have implications for scheduling infant HIV PCR-diagnostic testing and confirming final infant HIV status.
Journal ArticleDOI
Greater Suppression of Nevirapine Resistance With 21- vs 7-Day Antiretroviral Regimens After Intrapartum Single-Dose Nevirapine for Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission of HIV
Deborah McMahon,Lu Zheng,Jane Hitti,Ellen S. Chan,Elias K. Halvas,Feiyu Hong,Joseph Kabanda,Frank Taulo,Nagalingeswaran Kumarasamy,Jerry Bonhomme,Carole L. Wallis,Karin L. Klingman,Michael Hughes,John W. Mellors +13 more
TL;DR: Three short-term antiretroviral strategies, begun simultaneously with the administration of sdNVP, resulted in a low rate of new NVP-resistance mutations when assessed at 2 and 6 weeks following completion of study treatment by standard genotype.
Journal ArticleDOI
Quantifying Digital Ulcers in Systemic Sclerosis: Reliability of Computer-Assisted Planimetry in Measuring Lesion Size.
TL;DR: This study was undertaken to compare 2 computer‐assisted planimetry methods of measurement of digital ulcer area on photographs (ellipse and freehand regions of interest [ROIs]), and to assess the reliability of photographic calibration and the 2 methods of area measurement.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic modeling of the antiretroviral activity of the CCR5 antagonist vicriviroc in treatment experienced HIV-infected subjects (ACTG Protocol 5211).
Keith W Crawford,Chonghua Li,Anther Keung,Zhaohui Su,Michael Hughes,Wayne Greaves,Daniel R. Kuritzkes,Roy M. Gulick,Charles Flexner +8 more
TL;DR: There was a positive correlation between vicriviroc Cmin, area under the curve, and viral load changes at week 2 in treatment-experienced HIV-infected subjects receiving no other new active antiretroviral drugs, but this correlation did not persist beyond week 16, probably because treatment response at that point also depended on having other active drugs in the regimen.
