TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied the topology of complete non-compact Riemannian manifolds with Ricci curvatures and showed that such manifolds are diffeomorphic to Euclidean n-space R^n under some conditions on the density of rays starting from the base point p or on the volume growth of geodesic balls in M.
Abstract: In this paper, we study the topology of complete noncompact Riemannian manifolds with asymptotically nonnegative Ricci curvature. We show that a complete noncompact manifold with asymptoticaly nonnegative Ricci curvature and sectional curvature decay at most quadratically is diffeomorphic to a Euclidean n-space R^n under some conditions on the density of rays starting from the base point p or on the volume growth of geodesic balls in M.

TL;DR: The morphometric parameters identified in this study as performance indicators were not unanimously accepted within the ethnic groups and were mainly the pelvic length, chest width, teat length, withers height, and tail length.
Abstract: In the Diffa region of Niger, a survey was carried out in 140 farms to analyze the breeding practices and dairy performance of Kouri cattle. In addition, morphometric traits that were indicators of dairy performance according to the farmers were documented. Most of the herders were sedentary and the majority of herds were medium-sized (36 ± 30 head per farm). For cows with the most recent complete lactations, milk production per cow was on average 2.7 ± 1.4 liters per day for an average lactation duration of 7.2 ± 2.8 months. For cows considered as the best dairy cows, milk production per cow was 4.2 ± 1.5 liters per day for an average lactation duration of 8.9 ± 2.7 months. Although breeding practices were similar for many aspects in the different ethnic groups, morphometric selection criteria for Kouri dairy cows varied according to the ethnic group. The phenotypic characteristics thus associated with the Kouri breed in the identified ethnic groups were mainly the pelvic length, chest width, teat length, withers height, and tail length. It is important to consider endogenous knowledge of genetic improvement because the morphometric parameters identified in this study as performance indicators were not unanimously accepted within the ethnic groups.

TL;DR: The effect of aqueous extract of Cymbopogon citratus on Sorghum seed germination and its efficacy against Phoma sorghina transmission to sorghum vegetative organs and seed were studied in field conditions in 2008–2010.
Abstract: The effect of aqueous extract of Cymbopogon citratus on sorghum seed germination and its efficacy against Phoma sorghina transmission to sorghum vegetative organs and seed were studied in field conditions in 2008–2010. During these years, we also examined the effect of panicle protection on the reduction of P. sorghina infection. The aqueous extract of C. citratus lowers sorghum seed germination compared to untreated seeds, seeds treated with water and those treated with fungicide calthio C. P. sorghina is transmitted to the whole vegetative organs and seed of all the treatments. However, the aqueous extract of C. citratus significantly reduces the transmission of P. sorghina compared to untreated seeds, to seeds treated with water and those treated with fungicide. The protection of sorghum panicles before flowering limits the infection by P. sorghina compared to the panicles not protected.

TL;DR: The dynamics of mineral elements after harvests is revealed, which reassures producers about the sustainability of the tree/crop system, and shows an improvement in the chemical property of the soil in the presence of A. Senegal.
Abstract: This paper focuses on the influence of Acacia senegal on soil and cowpea production (Vigna unguiculata) at the N'Dounga Forest Station (INRAN) through a complete randomized block design. Treatments based on its association with cowpea in isolated trees and planting were applied. Chemical parameters, nitrogen fixation potential, and cowpea production were evaluated under these treatments. The results show an improvement in the chemical property of the soil in the presence of A. Senegal. Since the pH is acidic irrespective of the modality, the analysis of the variance shows a highly significant difference between the control and the other treatments for the water pH (P <0.000 1). Also, the nitrogen fixation potential cowpea was better expressed in his presence. However, the A. Senegal has less influenced the production of cowpea. The yields of pods, seeds, and fodder were reduced compared to the control. This study also revealed the dynamics of mineral elements after harvests, which reassures producers about the sustainability of the tree/crop system.
