TL;DR: In this article, a spatial analog to the Kolosov-Muskhelishvili formulae using the hypercomplex function theory is constructed for solutions of the biharmonic equation in three dimensions.
Abstract: The main goal of this paper is to construct a spatial analog to the Kolosov–Muskhelishvili formulae using the framework of the hypercomplex function theory. We prove a generalization of Goursat's representation theorem for solutions of the biharmonic equation in three dimensions. On the basis of this result, we construct explicitly hypercomplex displacement and stress formulae in terms of two monogenic functions. Copyright © 2008 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

TL;DR: In this article, a thermal process for the production of lightweight aggregates from masonry rubble was used as a feedstock for the construction of lightweight concretes, which achieved comparable performance to conventional expanded clay and expanded slate.

TL;DR: A hybrid technique for correcting distortions that appear when projecting images onto geometrically complex, colored and textured surfaces that analyzes the optical flow that results from perspective distortions during motions of the observer and tries to use this information for computing the correct image warping.
Abstract: In this paper we present a hybrid technique for correcting distortions that appear when projecting images onto geometrically complex, colored and textured surfaces. It analyzes the optical flow that results from perspective distortions during motions of the observer and tries to use this information for computing the correct image warping. If this fails due to an unreliable optical flow, an accurate -but slower and visiblestructured light projection is automatically triggered. Together with an appropriate radiometric compensation, view-dependent content can be projected onto arbitrary everyday surfaces. An implementation mainly on the GPU ensures fast frame rates.

TL;DR: It is found that Terrier's implementations of DirichletLM and DPH are on par, significantly outperforming TFIDF and BM25 and giving rise to a more diverse set of ranking criteria than relevance alone.
Abstract: We report on the first user study on assessing argument relevance. Based on a search among more than 300,000 arguments, four standard retrieval models are compared on 40 topics for 20 controversial issues: every issue has one topic with a biased stance and another neutral one. Following TREC, the top results of the different models on a topic were pooled and relevance-judged by one assessor per topic. The assessors also judged the arguments' rhetorical, logical, and dialectical quality, the results of which were cross-referenced with the relevance judgments. Furthermore, the assessors were asked for their personal opinion, and whether it matched the predefined stance of a topic. Among other results, we find that Terrier's implementations of DirichletLM and DPH are on par, significantly outperforming TFIDF and BM25. The judgments of relevance and quality hardly correlate, giving rise to a more diverse set of ranking criteria than relevance alone. We did not measure a significant bias of assessors when their stance is at odds with a topic's stance.
