TL;DR: In this paper, the authors derived monogamy relations for the α-th power of entanglement, which are tighter than the existing entangler-monogamy relation for some classes of quantum states.
Abstract: Monogamy relations characterize the distributions of entanglement in multipartite systems. We investigate monogamy relations related to the concurrence C, the entanglement of formation E, negativity Nc and Tsallis-q entanglement Tq. Monogamy relations for the $\alpha$th power of entanglement have been derived, which are tighter than the existing entanglement monogamy relations for some classes of quantum states. Detailed examples are presented.

TL;DR: The experiments show, for the first time, efficient THz generation with new ratios of ω_{2}/ω_{1}=1:4 and 2∶3, and observe that the THz polarization can be adjusted by rotating the longer-wavelength laser polarization and the polarization adjustment becomes inefficient by rotate the other laser polarization.
Abstract: In the widely studied two-color laser scheme for terahertz (THz) radiation from a gas, the frequency ratio of the two lasers is usually fixed at ω_{2}/ω_{1}=1:2. We investigate THz generation with uncommon frequency ratios. Our experiments show, for the first time, efficient THz generation with new ratios of ω_{2}/ω_{1}=1:4 and 2∶3. We observe that the THz polarization can be adjusted by rotating the longer-wavelength laser polarization and the polarization adjustment becomes inefficient by rotating the other laser polarization; the THz energy shows similar scaling laws with different frequency ratios. These observations are inconsistent with multiwave mixing theory, but support the gas-ionization or plasma-current model. This study pushes the development of the two-color scheme and provides a new dimension to explore the long-standing problem of the THz generation mechanism.

TL;DR: It is proved that the detection limit reaches the single-molecule level and this microfluidic SERS with high reproducibility and ultrasensitivity will find promising applications in on-chip single-Molecule spectroscopy.
Abstract: A method is developed to synthesize surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) materials capable of single-molecule detection, integrated with a microfluidic system. Using a focused laser, silver nanoparticle aggregates as SERS monitors are fabricated in a microfluidic channel through photochemical reduction. After washing out the monitor, the aggregates are irradiated again by the same laser. This key step leads to full reduction of the residual reactants, which generates numerous small silver nanoparticles on the former nanoaggregates. Consequently, the enhancement ability of the SERS monitor is greatly boosted due to the emergence of new “hot spots.” At the same time, the influence of the notorious “memory effect” in microfluidics is substantially suppressed due to the depletion of surface residues. Taking these advantages, two-step photoreduced SERS materials are able to detect different types of molecules with the concentration down to 10−13m. Based on a well-accepted bianalyte approach, it is proved that the detection limit reaches the single-molecule level. From a practical point of view, the detection reproducibility at different probing concentrations is also investigated. It is found that the effective single-molecule SERS measurements can be raised up to ≈50%. This microfluidic SERS with high reproducibility and ultrasensitivity will find promising applications in on-chip single-molecule spectroscopy.

TL;DR: High quality images are reconstructed with the proposed method from the polychromatic projections of DSCT, which means that the method is suitable for acceleration on GPUs (graphic processing units) or other parallel systems.
Abstract: Compared with standard computed tomography (CT), dual spectral CT (DSCT) has many advantages for object separation, contrast enhancement, artifact reduction, and material composition assessment. But it is generally difficult to reconstruct images from polychromatic projections acquired by DSCT, because of the nonlinear relation between the polychromatic projections and the images to be reconstructed. This paper first models the DSCT reconstruction problem as a nonlinear system problem; and then extend the classic ART method to solve the nonlinear system. One feature of the proposed method is its flexibility. It fits for any scanning configurations commonly used and does not require consistent rays for different X-ray spectra. Another feature of the proposed method is its high degree of parallelism, which means that the method is suitable for acceleration on GPUs (graphic processing units) or other parallel systems. The method is validated with numerical experiments from simulated noise free and noisy data. High quality images are reconstructed with the proposed method from the polychromatic projections of DSCT. The reconstructed images are still satisfactory even if there are certain errors in the estimated X-ray spectra.
