TL;DR: The perceptions of clinical students participating in the study have high competence (94-99%) in providing education and preventive care to their patients, but there is still a lack of prevention knowledge.
Abstract: Objective: To investigate the knowledge and self-perception of Indonesian dental students in giving oral health education and preventive treatment. Material and Methods: This was a cross sectional study, with 208 clinical students (54 males and 154 females). Knowledge and self-perception of preventive dentistry was assessed using multiple choice questionneire based on a four-point likert scale written in Indonesia, at Dental Hospital of Hasanuddin University. Assessment of preventive dentistry knowledge on clinical students by answering 14 questions, while self-perception in providing oral health education and preventive treatment was assessed using general questions. Statistical evaluation was done using Chi-squared test and t test. The significance level was set at 5%. The analyses were performed with SPSS 12 statistical package. Results: Both male and female students are reported to have high competence in giving oral health education and preventive treatment (94-99%), but there was no significant difference between genders (p>0.05). Almost all questions were answered by agree or strongly agree. 75% of study participants disagreed with the statement that the use of fluoride toothpaste is more important than the brushing technique for dental caries prevention (PK2, p<0.05). Conclusion: The perceptions of clinical students participating in the study have high competence (94-99%) in providing education and preventive care to their patients, but there is still a lack of prevention knowledge.

TL;DR: The main anesthetic complication that occurred during general anesthesia was high blood pressure, whereas the main intraoperative surgical complication was excessive bleeding and the main early postoperative complication was extremely poor wound hygiene.
Abstract: Background Cleft treatment is frequently performed in Indonesia, mostly in charity missions, but without a postoperative protocol it is difficult to establish the risks and complications of cleft treatment. The present study was designed to give an overview of current cleft lip and palate treatment strategies in Indonesia and to assess the complication rates during and after surgery. Methods This prospective study evaluated anesthetic, intraoperative surgical, and short-term postoperative complications in patients undergoing primary, secondary, or corrective surgery for cleft lip and palate deformities. The population consisted of 98 non-syndromic cleft patients. The main anesthetic complication that occurred during general anesthesia was high blood pressure, whereas the main intraoperative surgical complication was excessive bleeding and the main early postoperative complication was extremely poor wound hygiene. Results In this study, there were no cases of perioperative or postoperative mortality. However, in 23 (23.4%) of the 98 operations performed, at least one perioperative complication related to anesthesia occurred. The intraoperative and early postoperative complications following cleft lip and/or palate were assessed. There was a significant difference in the complication rate between procedure types (χ2 = 0.02; P 0.05). Nonetheless, a significant difference was found between procedure types regarding perioperative complications and the occurrence of postoperative complications (χ2 = 0.031; P< 0.05). Conclusions Further evaluation of these outcomes would help direct patient management toward decreasing the complication rate.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined changes in the coral reefs of inner zone island in the Spermonde archipelago from 1972 to 2016 using the Landsat MSS, Landsat TM, and Landsat OLI data.
Abstract: Coral reefs are among the most diverse and threatened ecosystems on the planet. The most commonly stated for developing coral reef remote sensing techniques is to asses and or to monitor the status of these ecosystems. The study site was selected one of small island in inner zone Spermonde archipelago, Indonesia. We used Landsat MSS, Landsat TM, Landsat ETM, and Landsat OLI data to examine changes in the coral reefs of inner zone island in the Spermonde Archipelago from 1972 to 2016. The image processing are gap fills, atmospheric correction, geometric corrections, image composites, water column corrections, unsupervised classifications, and reclassification. Some of component change detection procedure was applied to define change. The results showed significant changes in 44 years. Disturbed coral reefs are typically characterized by loss of coral cover by increase in the abundance of dead corals and rubble. Local factors such as destructive fishing is direct destruction of inner zone island. While the impact of local threats may be reduced through management action, global threats to coral reefs are likely to increase in severity in the coming years.

TL;DR: Indicating that IAHF procedure is associated with better muscle strength improvement shown with higher MMT-MRC score on stroke patient, which will have better prognostic outcome in their recovery.
Abstract: Background: Muscle strength impairment in stroke patient affect the patient daily life, especially when it occurs on the extremities muscles. Manual Muscle Testing (MMT) is an examination method to measure muscle strength using standardized scoring. Objective: To find possible improvement of Manual Muscle Test (MMT) Score after administration of Intra Arterial Heparin Flushing in chronic ischemic stroke patient. Method: This is an experimental study using pretest-posttest group design, with randomized controlled clinical trial, conducted among patients in Cerebrovascular Center Unit in Army Central Hospital Gatot Soebroto starting from February 2014. With 75 patients included in this study. The examination of muscle strength was done by trained physicians. The MMT score were taken before and after the IAHF procedure is conducted. Results: This study found higher score of MMTMRC scoring system on chronic stroke patient with IAHF procedure (mean MMT-MRC Score = 6,05 point. With p<0,05). Indicating that IAHF procedure is associated with better muscle strength improvement shown with higher MMT-MRC score on stroke patient, which will have better prognostic outcome in their recovery. Conclusions: Intra Arterial Heparin Flushing have significant effect on chronic stroke patient with decreased muscle strength, which shows a significant increase of MMTMRC score.
