TL;DR: It appears that children can become sensitized to parasite antigens in utero, allowing them to produce Th2-dependent specific IgG4 and IgE antibodies at a young age, whereas with increasing age, the influence of environmental factors, shared in households, such as filarial transmission and other helminth infections, becomes dominant.
Abstract: In mothers who suffer from helminth infections or allergic diseases, prenatal sensitization with antigens/allergens is suspected to bias the immune system of the offspring towards a Th2-type response. To investigate this at the antibody level, we collected 113 blood samples on filter paper from a paediatric population aged 3 months to 10 years and their mothers, who resided in an area endemic for brugian filariasis in Indonesia. The results showed that antibody levels in children were strongly correlated with maternal antibody levels. However, for anti-filarial IgG4 and IgE this relationship was manifested directly after birth, whereas for total antibody levels a positive correlation could be detected only with children aged > or = 2 years. To investigate the influence of paternal antibody on progeny, specific IgG4 was determined in a different set of samples from 229 children and both of their parents. Interestingly, the influence of paternal IgG4 became apparent only after the age of 4 years. In contrast, maternal antibody levels were already correlated to levels produced by their offspring at a young age (3 months onwards). Taken together, it appears that children can become sensitized to parasite antigens in utero, allowing them to produce Th2-dependent specific IgG4 and IgE antibodies at a young age, whereas with increasing age, the influence of environmental factors, shared in households, such as filarial transmission and other helminth infections, becomes dominant.

TL;DR: Low birth weight (LBW) is defined as a birth weight of a liveborn infant of <2,500 gram; in developed countries, LBW is commonly caused by preterm birth; while in developing countries, it is mostly due to intrauterine growth retardation.
Abstract: Low birth weight (LBW) is defined as a birth weight of a liveborn infant of <2,500 gram. In developed countries, LBW is commonly caused by preterm birth; while in developing countries, it is mostly due to intrauterine growth retardation. The concept of developmental origins of adult diseases, particularly on late-onset diseases such as hypertension and kidney disease, implies that there is a correlation between intrauterine milieu, intrauterine growth retardation, premature birth and infant feeding. The 'fetal origin hypothesis' suggests that metabolic diseases are directly related to poor nutritional status in early life. There is an inverse association between LBW and later risk of hypertension. The pathomechanism that links LBW and hypertension is multifactorial including delayed nephrogenesis, genetic factors, sympathetic hyperactivity, endothel dysfunction, elastin deficiencies, insulin resistance and activation of renin-angiotension system.

TL;DR: In this article, Tujuan penelitian employed analytical survey with cross sectional study approach to identify factors related to the pass in the Test of Competence for Indonesian Nurses in regional institutions of Sulawesi.
TO A PASS IN TEST OF COMPETENCE FOR INDONESIAN NURSES IN SULAWESI REGION ABSTRACT Objective: To identify factors related to the pass in the Test of Competence for Indonesian Nurses in regional institutions of Sulawesi Methods: This research employed analytical survey with cross sectional study approach It used Guttman scale for the questionnaire Data were collected from 16 December 2016 until 19 April 2017, involving 72 nursing graduates as samples from various nursing institutions in Sulawesi, taken using cluster sampling, and given questionnaire during a briefing session held one day before the test of competence for nurses The statistical test used Pearson correlation test with significance level ofp-value=005 Results: There was correlation of test readiness (p=0001), try-out for the Test of Competence for Indonesian Nurses (p=003), academic achievement (p=003), and institutional role (p=0005) with the passing rate of the test of competence for nurses and there was correlation ofphysical condition (p=0555), professional practice with the passing level of the test of competence for nurses Conclusion: The most dominant factor related to the pass in the competence test is the readiness for the competence test It is necessary to conduct further research on professional guidance system and understanding of blueprint concerning the pass in the test of competence for nurses Keywords: competence test, passing rate, academic achievement
