TL;DR: In this article, a study of the hydrogenation characteristics of 30-μm thick air-exposed magnesium film has been made using a volumetric method, which was shown that magnesium films absorb hydrogen at 623 K under 10 bar of hydrogen pressure and desorb it at the same temperature under a residual hydrogen pressure of 0.21 bar.

27 Apr 1993TL;DR: In this article, the electrical contact outlet for an anode sheet of a lithium generator with polymer electrolyte, consisting of one or more multilayer electrochemical cells, is described.
Abstract: Electrical contact outlet for an anode sheet of a lithium generator with polymer electrolyte, consisting of one or more multilayer electrochemical cells. The cell comprises at least one lithium base sheet having a thickness between about 1 and 50 microns to constitute the anode and its collector and additionally includes a cathode and its collector as well as the polymer electrolyte. A lateral end of the anode sheet extends beyond corresponding ends of the cathode and the collector to constitute a projecting zone. A metallic layer consisting of at least one rigid metal which is compatible with lithium is in electrical contact with the lateral end of the anode sheet but without electronic contact with the other components of the cell. The metallic layer constitutes the external terminal of the generator when the latter is in non-finished condition. According to a variant, a conductive and cohesive intermediate metallic zone, which consists of lithium or lithium rich ductile alloys is in intimate contact with the lateral end of the anode sheet and the metallic layer mentioned above is therefore in electrical contact with the lateral end of the anode sheet by means of the intermediate zone of lithium. Generators provided with such contact outlet as well as a process for the preparation of these contact outlets are described.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors measured CO2 fluxes at the water-air interface using floating chambers connected to an automated NDIR or a Fourier transform infrared instrument (FTIR).
Abstract: The fluxes of carbon dioxide were determined at the water–air interface using floating chambers connected to an automated nondispersive infrared instrument (NDIR) or a Fourier transform infrared instrument (FTIR). The fluxes were measured in 2002 over 280 sites in Canadian reservoirs, rivers, and natural lakes. Mean measured emissions of CO2 in old Quebec reservoirs (> 10 years) were around 1600 ± 1500 mg CO2/m2/day and around 735 ± 1125 mg CO2/m2/day in natural lakes. In a young Quebec reservoir (5 years old), values were higher, with mean measured emissions around 4400 ± 4000 mg CO2/m2/day. In Manitoba, old reservoirs had mean values around 3350 ± 2725 mg CO2/m2/day and natural lakes values around 1365 ± 2375 mg CO2/m2/day. In British Columbia, mean values were around 250 ± 800 and 500 ± 650 mg CO2/m2/day, respectively, for old reservoirs and natural lakes. Our data suggest that water quality and the input of carbon from terrestrial systems affect CO2 fluxes from waterbodies. Our results also show that reservoirs older than 10 years are comparable to natural lakes or rivers in terms of the water quality or gross CO2 fluxes and that higher emissions in young reservoir would last 6–8 years.

23 Jul 1998TL;DR: In this article, the authors present an improved electrochemical energy storage device which includes a number of solid-state, thin-film electrochemical cells which are selectively interconnected in series or parallel through use of an integrated interconnect board.
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an improved electrochemical energy storage device. The electrochemical energy storage device includes a number of solid-state, thin-film electrochemical cells which are selectively interconnected in series or parallel through use of an integrated interconnect board. The interconnect board is typically disposed within a sealed housing which also houses the electrochemical cells, and includes a first contact and a second contact respectively coupled to first and second power terminals of the energy storage device. The interconnect board advantageously provides for selective series or parallel connectivity with the electrochemical cells, irrespective of electrochemical cell position within the housing. In one embodiment, a sheet of conductive material is processed by employing a known milling, stamping, or chemical etching technique to include a connection pattern which provides for flexible and selective interconnecting of individual electrochemical cells within the housing, which may be a hermetically sealed housing. Fuses and various electrical and electro-mechanical devices, such as bypass, equalization, and communication devices for example, may also be mounted to the interconnect board and selectively connected to the electrochemical cells.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors developed new DHW profiles that can be used for such analyses based upon measurements that were taken in 73 houses in Quebec (Canada) and created annual DHW draw profiles at a time-resolution of 5min for four consumption levels and three temporal consumption patterns.
