Abstract: A measurement is presented of W-boson production in PbPb collisions carried out at a nucleon-nucleon (NN) centre-of-mass energy sqrt(s[NN]) of 2.76 TeV at the LHC using the CMS detector. In data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.3 inverse microbarns, the number of W to mu mu-neutrino decays is extracted in the region of muon pseudorapidity abs(eta[mu]) 25 GeV. Yields of muons found per unit of pseudorapidity correspond to (159 +/- 10 (stat.) +/- 12 (syst.)) 10E-8 W(plus) and (154 +/- 10 (stat.) +/- 12 (syst.)) 10E-8 W(minus) bosons per minimum-bias PbPb collision. The dependence of W production on the centrality of PbPb collisions is consistent with a scaling of the yield by the number of incoherent NN collisions. The yield of W bosons is also studied in a sample of pp interactions at sqrt(s)= 2.76 TeV corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 231 inverse nanobarns. The individual W(plus) and W(minus) yields in PbPb and pp collisions are found to agree, once the neutron and proton content in Pb nuclei is taken into account. Likewise, the difference observed in the dependence of the positive and negative muon production on pseudorapidity is consistent with next-to-leading order perturbative QCD calculations.

Abstract: Branched polymers result in a more compact structure in comparison to linear polymers of identical molecular weight, due to their high segment density which affects the crystalline, mechanical, and viscoelastic properties of the polymer. Star polymers constitute the simplest form of branched macromolecules where all of the chains - or arm segments - of one macromolecule are linked to a centre defined as the core. Over recent years, modular ligation reactions - some of which adhere to click criteria - have enabled the synthesis of a variety of star polymers via efficient polymer-polymer conjugations. While the modified Huisgen [3 + 2] dipolar copper catalyzed azide and alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC) has been widely employed for macromolecular star synthesis, Diels-Alder and hetero Diels-Alder reactions offer alternative pathways which allow for similarly efficient macromolecular conjugations. Moreover, combinations of these protocols afford the synthesis of more complex star polymer structures which previously had not been achievable.

Abstract: The main purpose of this research is to explore the differences in satisfaction dimensions between the academic and administrative employees in higher education institutions in a developing country, Turkey. In this research, a state university in Istanbul was selected as the case. A total of 291 academic and administrative employees of the institution participated in the research conducted using the method whereby participants answered an original questionnaire. According to the results of the research, it has been found out that there are certain differences in factors such as “colleague relations satisfaction”, “colleague competition level satisfaction”, “other work group satisfaction”, “professional satisfaction”, “work environment satisfaction”, and “salary satisfaction” with respect to the satisfaction of academic and administrative employees.
