TL;DR: In this article, some possible suggestions are made in order to ameliorate the situation of agriculture and to overcome the shortage of food production in the country, and they also discuss very minimally, the rise and the contribution of the petroleum industry to the Nigerian economy and its effect on the agricultural sector.
Abstract: This paper critically examines some of the causes and the problems of agricultural development in Nigeria. It also discusses very minimally, the rise and the contribution of the petroleum industry to the Nigerian economy and its effect on the agricultural sector. Finally, some possible suggestions are made in order to ameliorate the situation of agriculture and to overcome the shortage of food production in the country.

TL;DR: It is reported that the high incidence of oesophageal cancer could be associated with the consumption of crude beers and other liquors in Zambia due to secondary amines, in addition to nitrosamines.
Abstract: The presence of secondary amines; di-methylamine and diethylamine, methylamine, nitroso-methyl-n-propylamine have been reported in plants (Bush i970). Levels found in tobacco samples range between 2 - 100 ppm. The occurrence, metabolism and functions of plant amines have been reviewed by Smith(1971). Nitrate is a normal constituent of human saliva, its concentration in that body compartment isdirectly related to the nitrate intake via food. In the mouth it is partially reduced by microflora present to nitrate, which is swallowed and can serve as nitrosating agent for secondary amines in the stomach. The secondary amines have the imino-group which is very reactive and easily undergoes "nitration" to form the nitrosamines or nitroso compounds which have been shown to be toxic and carcinogenic (IARC 1976). Neurath (1968) reported that the high incidence of oesophageal cancer could be associated with the consumption of crude beers and other liquors in Zambia due to secondary amines, in addition to nitrosamines.

TL;DR: Baridula et al. as discussed by the authors examined the relationship between workplace diversity management and organizational performance and concluded from examined literature that diversity management significantly predicts organizational performance, and recommended that different generations can have different communication styles and norms.
Abstract: The present day working environment is turning out to be more diverse (Hodgetts and Hegar, 2008). Many organizations today endeavour to advance comprehensiveness of under-represented groups through proactive endeavours in order to create an environment where each employee is esteemed and their talents fully utilized to meet both individual and organizational goals. The capabilities of both genders and various diverse groups offer a wider labour pool (Mazur, 2010). An organization with a capacity to draw in and hold qualified people through reasonable and balanced professional success is most certainly going to gain competitive advantage. This paper examined the relationship between workplace diversity management and organizational performance. The objective of the study was to examine how dimensions of workplace diversity management such as age, gender and ethnic diversity impact on organizational performance. The study thus concluded from examined literature that workplace diversity management significantly predicts organizational performance. The study recommended that different generations can have different communication styles and norms. Hence organizations should plan and implement fun hangouts, leisure activities, official dine-outs, lunches and so on, where employees from all age-groups are invited, an organization provide a friendly and enjoyable work environment which will enhance the interchange and cross fertilization of ideas. TL;DR: In this article, it was observed that the flared gas is greater than the total electric power generated in the country for any given period even at 30 per cent fuel conversion, even with 30 percent fuel conversion.
Abstract: Nigeria is one of the major petroleum producers in the world. It flares an average of 22 billion cubic metres of gas annually as a by-product of petroleum exploitation. This practice is inimical both to the environment and a waste to the economy. There are over 300 flares sites in the country and for this study 10 were monitored. Measurements were taken over a period of 24 h for each of the flares to determine the energy flux. The heat radiation was measured with a non-contact thermometer mounted on a tripod 50 m from the flare. When the product of the measurement was converted into other energy equivalents for the flared gas it is observed that the flared gas is greater than the total electric power generated in the country for any given period even at 30 per cent fuel conversion. This paper proposes that other options for gas utilization be explored to check the trend. Copyright © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

TL;DR: In this article, the fundamental phenomenon of oxygenation within the overriding context of petroleum industry effluents and other oxygen demanding wastes in Niger Delta, Nigeria is discussed and discussed in detail.
Abstract: In this article, we review the fundamental phenomenon of oxygenation within the overriding context of petroleum-industry effluents and the other oxygen demanding wastes in Niger Delta, Nigeria. Drill cuttings, drilling mud (fluids used to stimulate the production processes), and accidental discharges of crude petroleum constitute serious land and water pollution in the oil-bearing province. Effluents from other industrial establishments such as distilleries, pulp and paper mills, fertilizer plants, and breweries, as well as thermal effluents, plant nutrients (such as nitrates and phosphates), and eroded sediments have also contributed to the pollution of their surrounding environment. Since these wastes are oxygen-demanding in nature, their impact on the recipient environment can be reversed by the direct application of simple chemistry. The wastes can be reduced, particularly in natural bodies of water, by direct oxidation-reduction processes or simple chemical combinations, acid-base reactions, and solubility equilibria; these are pH- and temperature-dependent. A shift in pH and alkalinity affects the solubility equilibria of Na + , Cl - , SO 2- , NO - 3 , HCO - 3 , and PO 3- 4 , and other ions and compounds.
