TL;DR: Borhler’s angle of Southern Nigerian do not have a significant difference from those of other Nigerian subjects, similar to finding among population of close similarity.
Abstract: Introduction: The Bohler’s angle(BA) is the angle between two lines tangent to the calcaneus on the lateral radiograph of an ankle. These lines are drawn tangent to the anterior and posterior aspects of the superior calcaneus.Aim: To establish base line reference data of BA required when surgical realignment of the ankle or radiological diagnosis of ankle mal alignment is required for the subject population establishing possible difference of BA among Nigerian population.Method: A total of 140 normal lateral plain radiographs of the foot and ankles, comprising of 57 male and 83 females between the ages of 10 and 60 years of age were randomly selected to establish normal BA in the study population using standard methods. Results: The mean BA reported for this study was 36.480± 4.950 with a range of 25-360 and a direct proportional relationship between BA and age of the subjects. Female subjects had a mean BA of 36.38±6.02 while their male counterpart had a BA of 36.63±8.42.Discussion: There was no significant gender difference and bilateral asymmetry in reported BA at P>0.05. The range of variation in calcaneal angle have never been reported to exceed 150, while the lowest and highest reported BA has been 250 and 400 respectively, this is similar to finding among population of close similarity. Conclusion: Borhler’s angle of Southern Nigerian do not have a significant difference from those of other Nigerian subjects.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors assess whether the enactment of the Companies Act 2006 in England makes a real difference to the duties of company directors, by deducing evidence of court rulings in several cases.
Abstract: This paper critically assesses whether the enactment of the Companies Act 2006 in England makes a real difference to the duties of company directors. By deducing evidence of court rulings in several cases, the paper suggests that the Companies Act 2006 was necessary to safeguard the governing documents of companies. The paper however, rejects the notion that the Act provides new ways of dealing with company directors in that it simply merged various pre-existing laws and also codified the common law rule of duty of care.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the catalytic cracking of vacuum gas oil fractions in the presence of extract from phenol purification of heavy lubricating oil fraction as an aromatic addition.
Abstract: Fluidized bed catalytic cracking of vacuum gas oil fractions in the presence of extract from phenol purification of heavy lubricating oil fraction as an aromatic addition was investigated. Results show that, at the optimum concentration of the addition, coke formation on the catalyst decreases by 50 to 70% while the content of olefinic hydrocarbons in gasoline decreases, with a corresponding increase in the content of paraffin/naphthene hydrocarbons. The yield of gasoline increases, while its octane number increases by about two units.

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of monetary policy on commercial banks' lending to the real sector from 1981 to 2014 were examined empirically with the aid of Software Package for Social Sciences.
Abstract: This study empirically examined the effects of monetary policy on commercial banks lending to the real sector from 1981 – 2014. The objective was to examine the effectiveness of monetary policy in channeling bank credit to the real sector. Annual time series data were sourced from Central Bank of Nigeria statistical bulletin. Two multiple regression models were specifically estimated with the aid of Software Package for Social Sciences. The study modeled commercial banks credit to agricultural and manufacturing sector as the function of interest rate, monetary policy rate, treasury bill rate, exchange rate, broad money supply and liquidity ratio. The result shows collinearity that corresponds with the Eigen value condition index, and variance constant are less than the required value. The Durbin Watson statistics shows the absence of multiple auto correlation and negative autocorrelation, while the variance inflation factors indicate the absence of auto-correlation. The regression results from model one found that interest rate, monetary policy rate have positive relationship with commercial banks lending to the agricultural sector while Treasury bill rate, exchange rate, broad money supply and liquidity ratio have negative effect on the dependent variable. Model two found that interest rate, Treasury bill rate, exchange rate, broad money supply and liquidity ratio have negative effect on commercial banks lending the manufacturing sector while monetary policy rate have positive relationship with the dependent variable. We recommend that monetary policy should be harmonize with bank lending objectives to enhance commercial banks lending to the real sector of the economy and that management of commercial banks should formulate policies of managing the negative effect of monetary policy variables on its lending.

TL;DR: In this paper, a study carried out to determine the effectiveness of an alternative, low cost and appropriate option that could be employed in the collection, treatment and disposal of sewage generated in the offices and residences of a large industrial setting in a developing country.
Abstract: This paper reports on a study carried out to determine the effectiveness of an alternative, low cost and appropriate option that could be employed in the collection, treatment and disposal of sewage generated in the offices and residences of a large industrial setting in a developing country. The development of the sewage treatment system emanated from the need to acquire a new system that is more hygienic and environmentally friendly than an existing one at the Bonny terminal of the Shell Petroleum Development Company, Rivers State, Nigeria. The treatment system comprises lift stations, network of pipelines and a central sewage treatment plant. Employed in the treatment process is Eichornea crassipes (water hyacinth), an aquatic plant with a proven ability to remove pollution from raw sewage, if properly adapted to sewage toxicity. The system was designed to handle a maximum daily inflow rate of 500 m 3 , alongside an influent biochemical oxygen demand of 350 mg/l, which results in an effluent of 20 mg/l. It has the capacity of treating an influent with total suspended solids, 300 mg/l to as low as 30 mg/l. A comparison of the quality of the system’s effluent with that of potable raw water indicates that it compares favorably with potable raw water, which implies that it could be discharged to terrestrial and aquatic environments to serve as fertilizer and as well boost fish production while guaranteeing environmental quality and health. Hence a low cost, environmental friendly and appropriate sewage treatment system has been achieved.
