Abstract: Over the past decades, organic-inorganic hybrid polymers have been applied in different fields, including the adsorption of pollutants from wastewater and solid-state separations. In this review, firstly, these compounds are classified. These compounds are prepared by sol-gel method, self-assembly process (mesopores), assembling of nanobuilding blocks (e.g., layered or core-shell compounds) and as interpenetrating networks and hierarchically structures. Lastly, the adsorption characteristics of heavy metals of these materials, including different kinds of functional groups, selectivity of them for heavy metals, effect of pH and synthesis conditions on adsorption capacity, are studied.

Abstract: Background. Pseudomonas aeruginosa has been increasingly recognized for its ability to cause significant hospital‐associated outbreaks, particularly since the emergence of multidrug‐resistant strains. Biofilm formation allows the pathogen to persist in environmental reservoirs. Thus, multiple hospital room design elements, including sink placement and design, can impact nosocomial transmission of P. aeruginosa and other pathogens. Methods. From December 2004 through March 2006, 36 patients exposed to the intensive care unit or transplant units of a tertiary care hospital were infected with a multidrug‐resistant strain of P. aeruginosa. All phenotypically similar isolates were examined for genetic relatedness by means of pulsed‐field gel electrophoresis. Clinical characteristics of the affected patients were collected, and a detailed epidemiological and environmental investigation of potential sources was carried out. Results. Abstract: The purposes of this study were to examine Toronto visitors’ perceptions of products and services in terms of importance and satisfaction by visitor origin and to apply the results to the importance-satisfaction model to identify strengths in service. The sample consisted of 359 visitors to Toronto in either August or November 1998. The results suggest that, in general, the overall visitors’ image of Toronto is similar. Closer analysis of the visitors’ country of origin, however, shows that there are some important differences in the attributes seen as important as well as in levels of satisfaction.

Abstract: We investigate the problem of achieving global optimization for distributed channel selections in cognitive radio networks (CRNs), using game theoretic solutions. To cope with the lack of centralized control and local influences, we propose two special cases of local interaction game to study this problem. The first is local altruistic game, in which each user considers the payoffs of itself as well as its neighbors rather than considering itself only. The second is local congestion game, in which each user minimizes the number of competing neighbors. It is shown that with the proposed games, global optimization is achieved with local information. Specifically, the local altruistic game maximizes the network throughput and the local congestion game minimizes the network collision level. Also, the concurrent spatial adaptive play (C-SAP), which is an extension of the existing spatial adaptive play (SAP), is proposed to achieve the global optimum both autonomously as well as rapidly.
