TL;DR: Self-reporting of adverse events after intravitreal bevacizumab injections did not show an increased rate of potential drug-related ocular or systemic events, and short-term results suggest that intrav itreal beVacIZumab seems to be safe.
Abstract: Aim: Off-label intravitreal injections of bevacizumab (Avastin) have been given for the treatment of neovascular and exudative ocular diseases since May 2005 Since then, the use of intravitreal bevacizumab has spread worldwide, but the drug-related adverse events associated with its use have been reported only in a few retrospective reviews The International Intravitreal Bevacizumab Safety Survey was initiated to gather timely information regarding adverse events from doctors around the world via the internet Methods: An internet-based survey was designed to identify adverse events associated with intravitreal bevacizumab treatment The survey web address was disseminated to the international vitreoretinal community via email Rates of adverse events were calculated from participant responses Results: 70 centres from 12 countries reported on 7113 injections given to 5228 patients Doctor-reported adverse events included corneal abrasion, lens injury, endophthalmitis, retinal detachment, inflammation or uveitis, cataract progression, acute vision loss, central retinal artery occlusion, subretinal haemorrhage, retinal pigment epithelium tears, blood pressure elevation, transient ischaemic attack, cerebrovascular accident and death None of the adverse event rates exceeded 021% Conclusion: Intravitreal bevacizumab is being used globally for ocular diseases Self-reporting of adverse events after intravitreal bevacizumab injections did not show an increased rate of potential drug-related ocular or systemic events These short-term results suggest that intravitreal bevacizumab seems to be safe

TL;DR: This series demonstrates the effective use of FMT for CDI in IC patients with few SAEs or related AEs, and there were no related infectious complications in these high-risk patients.

TL;DR: During a change-of-fixation eye movement, the target toward which S was shifting his gaze was displaced 1° toward the original point of fixation so that the eye made an overshoot with respect to the new target position.
Abstract: During a change-of-fixation eye movement, the target toward which S was shifting his gaze was displaced 1° toward the original point of fixation so that the eye made an overshoot with respect to the new target position. When this was repeated several times in succession, the eye movement control system made an adjustment such that the overshoot gradually diminished. Ihe end-result of this “parametric adjustment” was that a visual target 10° from the fovea elicited an eye movement of only 9.1°.

TL;DR: In patients with ARVC/D, ICD therapy provided life-saving protection by effectively terminating life-threatening ventricular arrhythmias as well as identifying patients who were prone to ventricular fibrillation/flutter on the basis of clinical presentation.
Abstract: Background— Arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy/dysplasia (ARVC/D) is a condition associated with the risk of sudden death (SD). Methods and Results— We conducted a multicenter study of the impact of the implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) for prevention of SD in 132 patients (93 males and 39 females, age 40±15 years) with ARVC/D. Implant indications were a history of cardiac arrest in 13 patients (10%), sustained ventricular tachycardia in 82 (62%), syncope in 21 (16%), and other in 16 (12%). During a mean follow-up of 39±25 months, 64 patients (48%) had appropriate ICD interventions, 21 (16%) had inappropriate interventions, and 19 (14%) had ICD-related complications. Fifty-three (83%) of the 64 patients with appropriate interventions received antiarrhythmic drug therapy at the time of first ICD discharge. Programmed ventricular stimulation was of limited value in identifying patients at risk of tachyarrhythmias during the follow-up (positive predictive value 49%, negative predictiv...
