Prevention of atrial fibrillation with renin-angiotensin system inhibitors on essential hypertensive patients: a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.

TL;DR: In this paper, the effectiveness and safety of ACEI/ARBs on preventing atrial fibrillation in essential hypertensive patients was investigated, and the results showed that ACEI and ARBs reduced the incidence of atrial Fibrillation recurrence compared to calcium antagonists (RR = 0.48; 95%CI, 0.40-0.58; P<0.005) in long-term follow-up.

The estimate of cardiovascular risk. Theory, tools and problems.

TL;DR: The present article reviews the epidemiological and statistical bases of the multivariate prediction of cardiovascular events and its transformation into practical tools for primary prediction, including the need to use predictive tools derived from Italian population studies.
Journal ArticleDOI

Potassium treatment for hypertension in patients with high salt intake: a meta-analysis.

TL;DR: Potassium treatment reduces the blood pressure substantially in hypertensive patients with salt-rich diets, and the difference in magnitude of blood pressure reduction between different studies is probably related to the amount of salt intake.
Journal ArticleDOI

Prognostic Impact of Blood Pressure Variability on Aortic Dissection Patients After Endovascular Therapy.

TL;DR: History of hypertension was likely to be a risk factor of BPV, and high BPV was an independent predictor of aorta-related death, andHigh BPV is an independent risk factor for the prognosis for aortic dissection.
Journal ArticleDOI

Do subclinical vascular abnormalities precede impaired physical ability and ADL disability

TL;DR: The present study showed that subclinical vascular abnormalities and rate of change were associated with higher rate ofchange in physical ability, and the association between (change in) subclinicalascular abnormalities and ADL disability tended to be stronger in persons with incident and prevalent cardiovascular disease.
