Since 1980, the American College of Cardiology (ACC) and American Heart Association (AHA) have translated scientific evidence into clinical practice guidelines (guidelines) with recommendations to improve cardiovascular health. Blood Pressure Control According to Clinical Practice Guidelines is Associated with Decreased Mortality and Cardiovascular Events among Liver Transplant Recipients
Lisa B. VanWagner,Jane L. Holl,Samantha Montag,Dyanna L. Gregory,Sean Connolly,Megan Kosirog,Patrick T. Campbell,Stewart Pine,Amna Daud,Daniel J. Finn,Daniela P. Ladner,Anton I. Skaro,Josh Levitsky,Donald M. Lloyd-Jones +13 more
TL;DR: The association between BP control of <140/<90 mm Hg with improved survival and decreased CVEs in LTRs suggests that efforts to improve clinician adherence to BP clinical practice recommendations should be intensified.

Low Systolic Blood Pressure From Treatment and Association With Serious Falls/Syncope.
John J. Sim,Hui Zhou,Simran K. Bhandari,Rong Wei,Jeff Brettler,Jocelyn Tran-Nguyen,Joel Handler,Daichi Shimbo,Steven J. Jacobsen,Kristi Reynolds +9 more
TL;DR: Both minimum and mean SBP less than 110 mmHg were associated with serious falls and syncope among treated hypertensive patients, and low treatment-related blood pressures deserve consideration given the emphasis on intensive blood pressure control.

TL;DR: It is found that concentrations of FABP4 (fatty acid–binding protein 4), an intracellular lipid chaperone involved in coordination of lipid transportation and atherogenesis, were a novel independent prognostic marker for poor functional outcome and mortality 3 months poststroke.

Coronavirus and Cardiometabolic Syndrome: JACC Focus Seminar.

TL;DR: An emerging model of COVID-related cardiometabolic syndrome encompassing events before, during the acute phase, and subsequently in the chronic phase is presented to guide preventive measures and improve overall cardiometric health so future viral pandemics confer less threat.
Journal ArticleDOI
Age-specific associations between systolic blood pressure and cardiovascular mortality.
TL;DR: In the elderly Korean population, SBPs of 130–139 mm Hg elevated total stroke mortality, but not IHD mortality, compared with normal blood pressure, and a linear association was not observed for ischaemic heart disease (IHD) mortality in the range <140 mm Hg.

Measuring inconsistency in meta-analyses
TL;DR: A new quantity is developed, I 2, which the authors believe gives a better measure of the consistency between trials in a meta-analysis, which is susceptible to the number of trials included in the meta- analysis.

Bias in meta-analysis detected by a simple, graphical test
TL;DR: Funnel plots, plots of the trials' effect estimates against sample size, are skewed and asymmetrical in the presence of publication bias and other biases Funnel plot asymmetry, measured by regression analysis, predicts discordance of results when meta-analyses are compared with single large trials.

Quantifying heterogeneity in a meta‐analysis
TL;DR: It is concluded that H and I2, which can usually be calculated for published meta-analyses, are particularly useful summaries of the impact of heterogeneity, and one or both should be presented in publishedMeta-an analyses in preference to the test for heterogeneity.
