TLDR
A number of methods for detecting abrupt changes (such as failures) in stochastic dynamical systems are surveyed in this paper, where tradeoffs in complexity versus performance are discussed, ranging from the design of specific failure-sensitive filters, to the use of statistical tests on filter innovations, and the development of jump process formulations.Abstract:
A number of methods for detecting abrupt changes (such as failures) in stochastic dynamical systems are surveyed. The class of linear systems is concentrated on but the basic concepts, if not the detailed analyses, carry over to other classes of systems. The methods surveyed range from the design of specific failure-sensitive filters, to the use of statistical tests on filter innovations, to the development of jump process formulations. Tradeoffs in complexity versus performance are discussed.read more

Neural fault diagnosis and fuzzy fault control for a complex linear dynamic system
TL;DR: A completed feasibility study is described demonstrating the merit of employing pattern recognition and an artificial neural network for fault diagnosis through a backpropagation learning algorithm and making use of fuzzy approximate reasoning for fault control via parameter changes in a dynamic system.

Systems and methods for analog to digital converter failure identification
TL;DR: In this article, the A/D conversion system is configured to determine an output status, including a frequency component and a corresponding amplitude, and to determine a failure of the analog to digital conversion system based on the determined output status.

New hypothesis testing-based rapid change detection for power grid system monitoring
Qian He,Rick S. Blum +1 more
TL;DR: A new locally optimum unknown direction (LOUD) test to detect changes in matrices or vectors is developed and applied to power grid failure and intrusion detection problems and numerical results show it is able to produce decisions right after the change has occurred.
