Effect of temperature on antioxidant enzyme gene expression and stress protein response in white shrimp, Litopenaeus vannamei

TL;DR: The transcriptional responses of these genes to temperature stress will provide the basis for a multi-biomarker system that could be used for the biomonitoring of aquatic environments.
Journal ArticleDOI

Neuroprotection by Spirulina platensis protean extract and phycocyanin against iron-induced toxicity in SH-SY5Y neuroblastoma cells.

TL;DR: Results suggested that S. platensis protean extract is a powerful antioxidant through a mechanism related to antioxidant activity, capable of interfering with radical-mediated cell death.
Journal Article

In vitro antioxidant activity of Diospyros malabarica Kostel bark.

TL;DR: The results indicate that the antioxidant property of the extract may be due to the high content of phenolic compounds, however, the underlying mechanism may not involve hydroxyl radical scavenging property.

ATP-regulation of antioxidant properties and phenolics in litchi fruit during browning and pathogen infection process

TL;DR: The impact of energy level on antioxidant properties in relation to pericarp browning and loss of disease resistance of litchi fruit was investigated in this article, where Litchi fruits were vacuum-infiltrated with distiled water (control), 1mM adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and 0.5mM 2,4-dinitrophenol (DNP) under 75kPa for 3min before being inoculated with Peronophythora litchii or not.

Interaction of enkephalins with oxyradicals

TL;DR: The interaction of enkephalins and other tyrosine amino-terminal peptides with reactive oxygen species has been investigated in this paper, and all the peptides tested exhibited hydroxyl radical and superoxide anion scavenging ability and the capacity to reduce the rate of lipid peroxidation induced by 2,2'-azobis(2-amidinopropane).
