Journal ArticleDOI
Multiple antioxidants protect against heme protein and lipid oxidation in kidney tissue
TL;DR: It is suggested that increasing the diversity and quantity of antioxidants in the diet provides significantly more protection for heme proteins and lipids in kidney tissue than individual antioxidants or a combination of vitamin E and selenium.
Journal ArticleDOI
Role of Ca2+ influx in the tert-butyl hydroperoxide-induced apoptosis of HepG2 human hepatoblastoma cells
TL;DR: The results suggest that TBHP induced the apoptotic cell death in the HepG2 cells and that Ca2+ influx may play an important role in the apoptosis induced by TBHP.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cadmium inhibits δ-aminolevulinate dehydratase from rat lung in vitro: Interaction with chelating and antioxidant agents
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that Cd(2+)inhibited delta-ALA-D activity and chelating and antioxidant agents, alone or combined, did not restore the enzyme activity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Protective effect of caffeic acid phenethyl ester on tert-butyl hydroperoxide-induced oxidative hepatotoxicity and DNA damage.
TL;DR: The results suggest that the protective effects of CAPE against t-BHP-induced hepatotoxicity may, at least in part, be due to its ability to scavenge ROS and protect DNA from oxidative stress-induced damage.

Studies on hepatic injury and antioxidant enzyme activities in rat subcellular organelles following in vivo ischemia and reperfusion
Mahesh P. Gupta,Mahesh P. Gupta,Kazushige Dobashi,Eddie L. Greene,John K. Orak,Inderjit Singh,Inderjit Singh +6 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that the antioxidant enzymes of various subcellular compartments respond to ischemia/reperfusion in an organelle or compartment specific manner and that the regulation of antioxidant enzyme activity in peroxisomes may differ from that in mitochondria and microsomes.
