Novel Genetic Diversity Through Somatic Mutations: Fuel for Adaptation of Reef Corals?

TL;DR: It is argued that somatic mutations likely play a key role in the evolution of reef corals, and the fate of new mutations depends on many factors, including ploidy level and force and direction of selection.

Performance and decomposition analyses of carbon emissions from industrial energy consumption in Tianjin, China

TL;DR: Wang et al. as mentioned in this paper provided a systematic method to analyze the time series of carbon emissions from the energy consumption of the industrial sector in a city; explore the main factors affecting carbon emissions; and divide industries in the city into different types and analyze combination features of emissions-efficiency.

Shamals and climate variability in the Northern Arabian/Persian Gulf from 1973 to 2012

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented key results from analysis of surface meteorological observations collected in the Northern Arabian/Persian Gulf (N Gulf; Kuwait, Bahrain, and NE Saudi Arabia), which spans a 40-year period (1973-2012).

Assessment on vulnerability of sorghum to climate change in India

TL;DR: In this article, the impacts of climate change on the sorghum production system in India were analyzed using InfoCrop-SORGHUM simulation model, which showed that adaptation strategies reduced the climate change impacts and vulnerability of winter crop to 1/2% in 2020, 3/8% in 2050 and 4/9% in 2080.

Climate Extremes: Observations, Modeling, and Impacts

TL;DR: Results of observational studies suggest that in many areas that have been analyzed, changes in total precipitation are amplified at the tails, and changes in some temperature extremes have been observed.
