TL;DR: In this paper, an approach with which to integrate factors across a food system to assess the system's vulnerability to environmental change by focusing on key processes and system characteristics is proposed. But, the multiple objectives of different actors in food systems make tradeoffs inevitable and complicate the evaluation of vulnerability.

Climate change effects on nitrogen loading from cultivated catchments in Europe: implications for nitrogen retention, ecological state of lakes and adaptation

TL;DR: In this paper, a number of models of various complexity for Danish streams and lakes suggest an increase in runoff and N transport on an annual basis (higher during winter and typically lower during summer) in streams, a slight increase in N concentrations in streams despite higher losses in riparian wetlands, higher absolute retention of N in lakes (but not as percentage of loading), but only minor changes in lake water concentrations.

TL;DR: There is evidence to support the biological plausibility of these associations, but publication bias is an ongoing concern and future research evaluating whether interventions, such as improved water and sanitation access, modify risk would further the understanding of the potential impacts of climate change on diarrheal diseases and aid in the prioritization of adaptation measures.

Valuation of plug-in vehicle life-cycle air emissions and oil displacement benefits

TL;DR: To offer a socially efficient approach to emissions and oil consumption reduction, lifetime cost of plug-in vehicles must be competitive with HEVs, and strategies to promote adoption of HEVs and PHEVs with small battery packs offer more social benefits per dollar spent.
